Short story.................Bought a 2010 Jeep Liberty Limited in Sept. 2010. Monday I will be taking it in for service for the 6th time. The first three times for Coil failure and the last three for TIPM failure. So far it has been in the shop for a total 16 cumulative days. Do I have a potential Lemon here?

Hmm, I don't think that the IG coils count as a "major failure", but the TIPM is a different story......

Was all of the work preformed at the same dealer? Also, have they ever stated a cause of failure on the parts in question?

Yes Digger, all work was done by the same dealer that I bought the Jeep from. I'll have to look at the service receipts to see if they say the cause of failure.

Well.....it seems it's important to them. They told me to start the buyback/lemon procedures. So I hope this goes thru pretty smoothly because I know it will take a while time wise.

There is no such thing as buyback/lemon.Its either a buyback or its the Lemon law.I would advise that you tell Chrysler you want a buyback. They do all the work on a buyback. On Lemon, you are technically suing Chrysler, which means you do all the work, you have to file complaint with your states attorney general,go through the process and meet with a arbritrator, and Chrysler lawyers. In Lemon law you also lose money on your vehicle, they take money for wear and tear, plus mileage. On buyback you get full value on MSRP.I did both with Chrysler and telling you that buyback is the way to go.Just to let you know I used no lawyers.

UPDATE:

After several dealership calls to Jeep Engineers up north, they're going to Lemon it. Seems even the people who designed the vehicle doesn't know what's wrong. Looks like it's a 2011 Liberty Limited for me. Now.....should I go with Black or Cherry Red?

Well geene519, My choices are really any color except White or Silver. My wife doesn't particularly care for those colors. I really don't care what color I get as long as it has what I had in my old one and it works.

The black will only look good if it's freshly washed or totally muddy, nothing in between. Trust me. Oh yeah, scratches show up easily too. :x

Go with the Natural Green.
It's purty and I don't see that many of them around.

Well, it's officially over. Finally picked up my new Brilliant Black 2011 Jeep Liberty Limited 2 days ago. It was a frustrating month but hopefully well worth it. Dealership was very helpful in the process. Only issue was I had to drive a rental Mitsubishi Galant for a month. I think that was the most painful part.
