Are you talking about Jeep KJ's?

I know the hood and bumper fascia changed. I think the 2005 year has the flatter rear seats when down. I could be wrong and those started in 2006.

They added the plastic guards along the bottom sides (where the sliders go).

More electronics, I believe.

The only differences between the 2004 and 2005 gaser KJs that I can tell (and I been under both) are the hood and front end fascia, the rocker panels, and internal stuff like switch placement and the a fore mentioned seats.

Both come with the 3.7L V6, 42RLE transmission, 3.73 ratio (with A/T) front Dana 30a (186 FIA) and rear Chrysler (Corporate) 29 spline 8.25" differentials, and NV231 (or NV242) transfer case.

The only place where there might be a mileage difference between 2004 and 05 is with the manual transmission which went from a 5-speed to a 6-speed or the fact that the change in fascia "might" improve mileage (but I would not count on the last fact...)

That means there is a difference in the hoods from the `04 to `05 if the Renegade hoods are different. The `04's did not have flat hoods for the Renegades.

Nothing powertrain wise (except for the stick)...so no MPG change. ABS/ESP became standard in 06, but my 05 doesn't have any of it! :D

Another change is that in 05 (and 06) the CRD diesel was an option.
