Hey Fella's,

Owned this 2006 CRD since new and now just crossing the 70K mark. She is bone stock minus an SEGR install. The forum has been a great help with her during ownership but now I am finally stumped. Two items are driving me nuts one new and one since the truck was nearly new and Chrysler can't diagnose.

First the ongoing issue; I occasionally get this incredibly loud noise from the drivetrain or suspension when under acceleration and hitting a bump that sounds like someone shot a .22 under the front left wheel or drivers seat. Lately the noise is becoming more common IE weekly instead of once a month but not so loud. Also, now the noise occasionally comes from the passenger side. The dealership has already replaced the tie rod ends and now the front driveshaft but the issue is still there. The dealership has no ideas and this makes me worry that at some point something in the suspension will just let go.

The second issue started Friday. I was getting on the highway and under FULL acceleration from a stop. In the cabin I notice what sounds like the AC FAN is running (which it is not) but LOUDER. Trying to figure this out I turn off the AC but it seems to make the FAN type noise whenever I accelerate even the slightest bit but more gas = more noise to a point. Nothing under the hood looks out of order, no smoke, no warning lights, and no overheating as I drove the beast home at 60-65 for another 15 miles with it doing this the entire time. Sitting in the driveway I am unable to duplicate the noise at idle or making revs. Have not taken it for an actual drive since getting her home Friday. Almost sounds like a loud turbo of which I've had several in other cars but minus the whine as it really sounds just like a fan. If this were normal I figure I would have notice in the first month of ownership not after year 5.

Ideas?

Thanks so much,
Chris

Could be a loose CAC hose clamp leaking under load or the begining of a hose failure.

More information. I just went to drive the truck and the fan type noise is still there under acceleration, engine light now lit, and she is DOWN on power. How big of a deal is changing those turbo hoses? Any danger in driving the truck to the dealership 10 miles away tomorrow if it is only a blown hose?

you can drive with a split boost hose - but it'll be slow - with no power.

on the suspension noise - check your ball joints, upper and lower
(lowers were recalled but they can still die) - actually I'd check all bolts on the front suspension.
