when we got our 06 crd we had the normal CEL on with the egr acting up. so they replaced that. but after that they told us there was a recall on the TC. and that they wanted to get it replaced, and when they could set up a time to do it. they replaced it and, long story short how do i know if i have the euro TC? I just found this great site a over a year ago about a year after we got our liberty. wish i would of found all this info before we got the jeep.

There's no way to know unless you saw the Mopar TC box with the right part number on it. If it happened in the last 6 months, odds are you have it.

And welcome to the forum!

The Mopar 'Euro' TC was released in September 2009, so your CRD does not have it.

Is this recall also on the 2005's. I asked about recalls and the stealership said there were none?

There also was a post regarding a spring in the torque converter that was a recommeded repair. I went through several pages and could not find it. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Thanks.

To get to the springs in the Torque Converter you to have to have the weld cut open and weld it back up. Only TC rebuilders and shops that build performance torque Converters like SunCoast have the equipment.

Converter choices are the now stock Euro (should have been the stock converter from day one), rebuilds that vary from shop to shop (you are on your own), and Aftermarket converters like SunCoast and the others with the billet front cover. Search for "billet front cover", "SunCoast" , "Precision Industries" to find threads to read. I have posted a lot of info.
The other 545RFE issue is a check valve in the front pump that can go bad. Choices are to install the Transgo Kit, do the Sonax fix (takes expensive tools to do), or replace the pump and hope you get a new front pump that has a good casting with no soft/bad spot where the check valve seats.

Let me know if any of the pics on my posts are gone, I have had to repost some pics.

YES, it sounds like it
But you may have to take the service writer for a ride and show them :JEEPIN:
Also I think you'll need to be the original owner or a second owner that has paid to have the warranty transfered :dizzy:

Thanks Joe, I am the second owner and I paid for the warranty exchange.
I hate going to the dealer for anything, do the think they will try and talk me out of anything being wrong with it? I live in the Peoples Rebuplic of Massachusets and the CRD did not orginally come here I bought it out of state with 24,000 so I dont know if there are any trained techs or service writers that know anything about theses vehicles. :?:

greggmig,

Typical CRD TC "shudder" does NOT occur under "hard" acceleration. It occurs at 55-58 MPH under light to moderate acceleration (i.e. that does NOT trigger TC unlock or a downshift). You may have something else going on. I'm in central Mass. Let me know if you would like to get together to check it out.

DOC

Unfortunately, there are a variety of shudders.

My hard acceleration shudder was actually fixed by a new rear driveshaft. No real good explanation on that one but I'm glad I don't have to (as of today) pursue torque converter #4.

My hard acceleration, then maintain steady speed - start shuddering after a few seconds can be fixed with the GDE tune, that one was software inspired.

My stall the engine as I'm coming to a stop like I forgot to put in the clutch pedal was fixed with a new torque converter / trans pump / valve body.

Your results may (unfortunately) vary...

My 06 libby is stalling when coming to a stop as well. Is this problem only fixed by a new tc or are there other ways of fixing it? I replaced the fuel filter but it had no affect on the problem. It doesn't completely stall but feels like it is close and lurches a little during about 10% of my daily stops. ( Sorry to veir off topic a little )
