Just last week here in UT, a Fed X driver pulled up to a house, a 5 yr old girl opened the door and two pitbulls attacked the driver.

http://www.sltrib.com/sltrib/home/51258231-76/driver-davis-dogs-fedex.html.csp#

A FedEx driver was hospitalized Wednesday after being attacked by two pit bulls.

West Valley City Animal Control Supervisor Kelly Davis said the driver, a man whose name they didn’t immediately release, was making a package delivery to a home near 4000 South and 4200 West about 11:45 a.m. when the attack occurred.

Davis said animal-control officers arrived at the scene about 12:10 p.m. and found the FedEx driver suffering from numerous bites to the hands, arms, torso, legs and ankles. His injuries weren’t life-threatening, but he was taken to Pioneer Valley Hospital for treatment.

“The driver had knocked on the door of the residence, and a young child answered. The two dogs came through the door and attacked, apparently unprovoked,” Davis said.

The pit bulls were confiscated and remained in custody of animal-control officers pending completion of their investigation.

“The owner has signed over the animals to us. We are investigating the circumstances of this, and the disposition of the dogs is undetermined at this time.

However, they will not be going back home, and they will not be put up for adoption,” Davis said.

Whether the dogs will be euthanized, or possibly given to a rescue organization, depends on the outcome of the investigation, he said.

As for the dogs’ owners, the investigation will determine if they could face criminal charges or a lesser citation and fine, Davis said.

A spokeswoman for FedEx confirmed the company was aware of the attack and said they are cooperating with authorities investigating the incident.

I just reread this thread. HOW NICE!! Some "A" Hole deleted a post I made! Whoever it was didn't even have the decency to tell me why or even that it was done. Well, you can take this post and shove it where the sun doesn't shine also.

Two years ago went to my son's house to pick him up for four wheelin trip. Front door was open(Screen door closed) He has a pit a great dog. My 4 year old granddaughter plays really ruff with him all the time. But this day he had another pit in the house(A friends dog). My granddaughter opened the door for me and the friends pit attacked me. He only got in one bite before my son got control of him. Got me right on the inner thigh. My leg still has the marks but almost but not quite normal after two years. The dog was giving away but less than a year later he bit someone else so he was put to sleep. This dog was trained to be like this and was just a viscus animal. It is all in how you raise your dog they can be very sweet dogs if you treat them right. As for the four wheeling trip I went anyway just wrapped it up with bandages (a lot of them) it was a painful day and had to re wrap the leg a couple of times. But I'm stubborn,I was going on this trail ride. I went to the doctor on Monday and got it taken care off.

Neither did I. I did delete a double post Bub made, but that's it.

Sorry Terry, maybe you can post it again?

The server is acting up, you may have noticed.

A bad owner can have an outta control Chihuahua but I doubt anyone would give an eff... or be hospitalized.

bad owners:
chihuahua? eh,,
chow?
cocker spaniel
dalmation
dachshund
jack russell / etc terriers

these dogs have exponentially higher dog to human bite rates than pits and overwhelmingly have majority when it comes to blinding and physically scarring children but very few fatalities in comparison

American bulldog
alapaha blue's
boxers
mastiffs brit/am
ca-de bou's
bandogge's
alano's
rotts
bandog's
presa canario's
rhodesian ridgebacks
cane corso's
dogo's
catahoula bulldogs
a dozen others

You'd have to exterminate these breeds of dogs too then.
As more than 50% of "Pit Bull" fatalities, were these breeds mistaken for APBT's
In several cases, it was the owner misrepresenting the dog as an APBT, not knowing what kind of dog they actually had

news corrections are neither news worthy, nor does anyone care what was on page 15 of yesterdays news.

and if i may add, and FT please don't perceive it as a personal thing, I do understand that stance

but from my perspective, extermination of a breed, is little different than the stance offroad opponents take when they say ban the "sport"

certain breeds attract certain personalities, and certain personality types are ill equipped to properly take care of and train a difficult animal, whether it's a yorkie or a APBT.

Really no different than irresponsible owners of 4x4s hurting or damaging peoples property, it's not the 4x4's fault they were driven irresponsibly

not the sedans fault it was driven drunkenly

not the vans fault it was driven with "Free Candy" painted on the side - well.. i don't know.. i've seen some vehicles with questionable behaviors.. GRUMPY.

now.. due to their size, difficulty? of operation, and damage potential, certain vehicles have class licenses for which you must pass a test to obtain

i think that coincides with Ton's dog license example pretty well

any dog bite is a serious issue and says volumes about the socialization and training of the dog regardless of it's breed

If I have to go to the hospital because I got attacked by a Jack Russell, I'd be worried that I was turning into a chick.

I suspect a web server malfunction. I have made some purely technical posts that went poof for no reason, yet other posts that included my very strong opinion are in tact.

The only other explanation is that the Google-CIA-NSA-Interpoll-Rabid Pitt Bull conspiracy connection is real. :ROTFL:

I am no dog expert, but I once had a Chihuahua attack a farm tractor tire on the tractor I was driving on the road. The tractor tire was not forgiving when the Chihuahua bit down hard on one of the tire lugs and was thrown hard against the ground. Dogs can be trained to be good or bad.

Jack Russells are so interbred that they go PSYCHO after a year or so.
If my cousin Bill's old Jack got ahold of your hand you'd turn into a chick real quick. That's for real.

I've only been truely afraid of two dogs in my life, and I've been around many pits.
My uncle's old chow chow because all chows are bi-polar, and the other was my neighbors rott. The rott(Rosco, who my old Rosco was named after RIP), was my best friend. I use to give him massages, and all kinds of food, he loved me. One day I dropped a screwdriver over the fence and decided to go get it.
Bad Idea!

I had a Black Bear charge at me in American Fork Canyon... I told it to eff off and it did. Pit Bulls bite harder though.

We tried, didn't work. See my earlier post.

Here's a good article on APBT's. I had my last 3 dogs from the rescue, it turned out great (no potty training involved :D)

Every rescued fighting pitbull I ever met was a kind dog. Every one I have met that wasnt rescued was a kind dog. All boils down to how they are treated, and Im sorry to say that humans do worse things then pitbulls. You say pitbulls are bad because most react they way they were TAUGHT and not the way they were bred to do. When a pitbull reacts as it was TAUGHT to do its OMFGALLPITBULLSAREBAD!!!111 Get over your ignorant hatred for the worlds sake...
