The Jeep as a whole looks way better with the lift and tires. Good job!

I only want to know:

In a head on collision, what makes you sure that thing won't rip out of your hood and fly through the windscreen of the other car? Or hit someone else? :?

-------

Then....3" lift...Rough Country...the time you took to mount that jack on your hood would have been better spend reading the Lift FAQ...

Oh well....good luck. Looks nice. For now.

thanks for the compliment on the jeep looking better as a whole ... still have some things to do though

as for the jack ripping off ??? i dont plan on wrecking it for one ... and its mounted with 16 bolts altogether so im not thinking its coming lose anytime soon ...

as for the lift ??? whats so bad about rough country ? i think it looks great and rides smooth ... lifted the jeep like it was supposed to ... i really dont see what the problem is ?

Rough Country is one of the worst lifts you can use on a KJ esp. with any miles on it
Hope you at least installed all new shocks and front bumpstops if not....good luck

so what are you sitting at from middle of wheel to bottom of flare now

A) you use stock shocks and springs, which will sag...quick.

B) If you didn't fit extended bumpstops, your shocks will bottom out, giving you all kinds of trouble.

C) The uca will hit the spring.

D) They still haven't come up with a way to secure the spacer to the shock. IMO that's downright dangerous.

Unless you drive to the mall and back.

Well if you would take some time and read through various posts you would find that they provide less than quality parts, the way it is designed puts extra stress on the suspension, if you didn't replace the shocks then they will go before long, bumpstops will help somewhat but will not fully take care of the issues.
Bottom line after being on here for 6 years just never saw anyone have good results long term, most remove soon after installing and go full spring
But then
None of us on here go out and try and slam someone for trying something new, BUT when we have seen it done over the years and never with good results then we all try and inform the person who doing it. Most take the advice and then have a well built KJ/KK, then some ask others opinion unless it goes against what they have done.

Hey man, hood mount looks great, just like the wranglers esp with the flat hood. Keeps it up and out of the way.

As for the lift well, true it isn't the best lift because it uses the stock springs which will sag real bad over time if not already. If you want to get an ARB you will need something with a much higher spring rate. OME is really the only maker for those. Rough Country will probably be fine for now but you will eventually want more. Watch out on this forum, as long as you have everything on a certain somebodies mod list you will be fine if not..well hope you have thick skin. I spend more time lurking these days that actual posting.

Some things have been proven to work ( or not work) over years of testing/using/owning
its not really a matter of whats on someone elses mod list that make it better

True, but there is a way to educate a person without the sarcasm and constant bashing all the newbs receive from you. You need to adjust your approach a bit.

Not you man, your approach was just fine. I don't feel dejected after reading your post and I happen to agree as most would. But it is his first lift on his KJ and we have all been there.

Not that I need to stand up for Tom, he can handle his own affaires, but if you read back this thread, the OP has taken no notion of any of his advice. Brought in a friendly manner.

You don't have to do everything just like everybody else or use OME because we did.

But: if you come on here to ask how and why, learn from other people's experiences. Don't ask and then do the exact opposite or debate.

Or we will start calling you Budke.Image

guys , its not that i dont believe or appriciate your input ... but Sport is right ... this is the first time ive done anything with anything other than my wrangler .... as i had a child on the way ( which is a horrible subject now considering we had a miscar... i dont really want to talk about it ) i sold the wrangler thinking a liberty would be better for the family ... and again bc i though i was going to be spending a lot of money on the kiddo and med bills and all ... i simply found something that will give me the look i want for now without taking every dime i had ... yal are prob all correct and im sure ill continue to upgrade over the next couple years so i do thank yal for the imput ... sorry if i came off as being negligant to your words of wisdom ... i enjoy having others who know more about the KJ giving me their opinion ...

now , back to the hood mount ... i LOVE the way it looks and think its only going to look better after the roofrack, top light bar , and arb are added ... not to mention it's VERY functional ... and im proud of being the only KJ to have done it

keep the comments comming , be it praise or advice ... i can take the critisism , its my wallet that can't lol
