VERY BAD NOISE FROM TRANSFER CASE

HEELP

Please ,help me.
If i put 4wd auto or 4wd low an then drive .e.g on a step hill ,and as soon as I need power to start moving there is a terrible sound coming from the transfer case...........
When drive to 2wd there is no such issue.
Helpppppppp car is out of warranty.... :dead:

can you describe the sound? dragging chain, clanking, grinding? have you tried draining the fluids to take a look?

its a heavy metalic sound like something is jumping or not engaging inside the transfer case.
Its only audible when you need more power .If you drive slowly nothing happents.

F.Y.I THE CHAIN AND THE GEAR GOING TO THE FROND DIFF IS DAMAGED....
HAVENT HEARD OF ANY PROBLEM LIKE THIS......
NO SPARE PARTS IN EUROPE .....WAITING FOR SPARE FROM THE U.S.A :furious:

As official Jeep mechanics said ,there wasn't any Jeep with this problem again,in Greece and also in Europe.(no spare parts of this in Europe).As far as I can tell the chain turn losse and finally jump of the gear,causing a major problem in my tranfer case.
I forgot to take the chain and gears so I can take a picture so I can post it.I ll see if they still have the broken parts......

broken chains happen, lot of torque and shock to the drivetrain when it changes gears under alot of throttle and the tires catch traction will do it

atleast you didn't bust the transfer case itself

we used to jump chains off of the np203s all the time cause they'ed stretch

@Greekjeeper, would you be able to tell me what sort of work was carried out on your Transfer Case and where were the parts imported from?

I am having the same issue with my 08 KK and the spare parts are not available in Australia.

hi there..
Sorry fro the delay..
Disassebly of tranfer case.....
new chain from USA.
new gears from Germany.
Gaskets and small items needed from Greece.
As far as I know.
Usually they want to change the tranfer case with a factory rebuild,and send the damaged tranfer case to the factory.(propably to be rebuild)
But Jeep at Thessaloniki got the parts......I was waiting thought
