boost hose clamps

does anyone know off-hand what size the stock turbo hose clamps are? I have the new OEM hoses, but would feel more comfortable with wider, heavier duty clamps. While we're at it, anyone know where I could purchase some?

I used a set of Marman type clamps (T bolt, screw thread) from McMaster-Carr. You can get McMaster's web site thru google. Unfortunately, I did not record the size, but you can measure the hose and add a slight amount for the expansion over the nipple. On the intercooler to manifold side I used the ones where the tension is held by a compressed spring, on the turbo to to intercooler side I used the standard screw down type--the spring type was not available in that small a size. They have worked very well. One thing, on my 2005 CRD, the nipple sticking out of the intake manifold was very short, and you have to be sure the hose is squarely seated on it before clamping it. One other thing to keep an eye out for, I found a couple of areas where the hose tended to rub on hard surfaces, such as electrical connectors, and I used pieces of rubber to serve as a shield for the hose and wire tied them on.

Take the hose to your local Hose and Hydraulic supply house. They will have the T-bar type clamps in a variety of sizes, and they WILL have one that will fit, for about $2.50 or so each.

Be careful putting them on, ESPECIALLY on the intercooler's plastic connections. The T-bar clamp is capable of exerting an AMAZING amount of squeeze, which can shatter that ABS plastic. I actually managed to reduce the diameter of some PVC elbows I was using for a temp boost hose fix with those clamps. When the hot air softened the PVC, the clamping pressure actually took almost a full 1/4" off the diameter without cracking the PVC.
