Do all headunits fit all vehicles? I'm not talking about anything fancy like a touch screen... just a simple headunit so I can plug in my ipod. Any Suggestions on a head unit? I don't need one too nice.

READ BOTTOM OF PAGE FOR PROBLEM THANKS FOR THE HELP! :D

they're fairly standard, vehicles on the other hand are not

so regardless of the radio for the most part, you'll need a wiring harness adapter, an antenna adapter and a trim ring, go to best buy or something similar, they stock everything you'd need for a clean install

if you find a radio online that you like and order that, just tell them the make/model/serial of the radio and they can hook you up with the right junk

a double-DIN hu will not fit a KJ without massive customization.

Here is a little more to the background of the story. Stock HU, works. Take out stock unit and with the Kenwood wiring harness and new HU wiring harness all the new unit does it come on but no sound. Take everything back apart and put stock HU back in and it works correct.

i know with my mustang I use to have it required a remote amp turn on to be hooked up. I did not have this problem in my jeep and I've put 2-3 different HU's in.

ok so i did find an old thread on here from 07 addressing the premium sound system problem. basically it says i just have to connect those two extra blue cables on the factory harness. Correct me if I'm wrong

ahhhmm

I dunno :)

soldered my kenwoods harness to the radio harness adapter as described in the book, didn't hook up the whatever color it was that is used for the "illumination fade"

plugged it in along with the antenna adapter and had no problems?

all my junk came from Best buy so whatever company they use for the harness adapters is what i used

it sounds like you have everything right except maybe the outputs are wired wrong?

there is a dark blue and white cable that is labeled p. cont. so i'm guessing this is power. zack thought this may have been the problem but we were running alittle short on time.

the new wiring harness and the radio wiring harness colors all matched up.

double DIN doesn't mean "advanced" and double DIN is "standard" in many cars.... just sayin'.
