All,

I purchased what was suppose to be a new ring and pinion fro the front diff on 2005 liberty. The problem is that the pinion gear looks used and the company that I ordered from says its new. Here are the pics.

From the pictures, looks uniform and dull, nothing uneven in the finish that woud indicate its been used. Might have been sitting on a shelf for a while.

4.10 or 3.73?

Looks new to me, looks better then the fisrt set of front gears I got. My first set had marks all over it and it was new. Sent it back and got a better set.

OE gears are lapped which give them the appearence of being "used" when they are really not.This drastically shortens break in time compared to non-OE gears.
