Well got bad news today from Chrysler rep, She told me that the shuddering that my crd is making is normal! This was told to her by STAR! I told her that its not normal and that they have had problems with the tc's and even came out with a revised version.. Her resonse was sorry they are above me and have the final say in the matter and that I can't even contact them! She offered me 4 free oil changes which I said sounds like a bribe to me!
Dont know what to do now! :( I only have 700 miles left on my warranty! This SUCKS!

Print this out and take it to them, ask them where it says you are not covered?

Just curious to know what the situation is for KJs built after that November date up to the shutdown of the line? Was the whole F37 thing done at the factory or did they get a revised TC. Power figures in new car sales brochures issued for say the 2007 KJ CRDs (which were primarily export models). Mine was built in late April 2007 and I have no F37 sticker.

When I bought my crd in april of 2007 with 24000 miles it had a f37 sticker under the hood so I dont see how bringing in the printout will have any bearing..

I sorry but that recall is for total torque converter failure. A shuddering is a condition of the springs bottoming out in the TC clutch so you can feel the pulse of the engine. It's not a failure until it breaks. Only chance is if your vehicle was built before November 02, 2005 and never had the TC replaced before. Then you may have still get denied because Fiat don't have to honor old recalls.

Do you think the tc was replaced with the f37? The jeep was bought in July of 2005..

If you brought it in for the f37 and there was no noise or broken TC then the ECM/TCM got flashed only.

Actually per the TSB they were supposed to be replaced on all 05/06 CRD's built before November 05 and since his was bought in July 05. What was a maybe situation is if there was a sound heard coming from the TC indicating it had already started failing was the front pump and trans cooler/AC condensor :SOMBRERO:

With this being a customer satisfaction notice, is there a expiration time or mileage???. How does this differ from a recall?

Doc I had set up an appointment with chambers in millbury tomorrow, I dont think it's going to make an difference. Bottom line is if they can legally weasle out of warranty work their going to do it! They all suck there is no such thing anymore of customer service, my family and myself have been loyal Chrysler customers for generations. The sad thing is they know the tc's are a weak link in the drivetrain thats why they detuned the power output of the engine and revised the tc! Nice folks huh! :banghead:

Just be sure to deal with Sam and tell him you were referred by me. He has been terrific with us, but may have his hands tied now by new FIAT policies. Also, they may be a bit more liberal with MaxCare ESP warranty holders than with the 7/70.

Hope you get a better outcome than the Worcester dealer.

Helen & I flew to St. Louis Saturday morning to pick up a 2006 RD Ltd with 85k on it. During the road test on I-55 before we actually bought it, I tried desperately to load the TCC and get it to hiccup but t was rock-solid, accelerating under heavy throttle with TCC engaged in 5th. So...we headed home down I-55 to Louisiana and 306 miles into the trip, on a hilly ascent the engine revved to a higher RPM, the CEL came on. :banghead: When I realized that the trans was still sending power to the wheels I quickly figured out that the error must be a slipping TCC. I pulled over to check things out but nothing out of the ordinary going on under the hood. Firing back up and accelerating onto I-55 as soon as TCC engaged the engine revved again so this time i shifted to neutral, cycled the ignition and feathered the throttle allowed TCC engagement and drove the other 400+ miles like that. Occasionally the cruise would over-power the TCC and it would go to limp mode again but now I left the trans in gear, cycled the key and picked up TCC again with a light throttle. We made it home OK, but I am afraid I may have sent shavings through the trans although it still shifts fine, maybe a flush, filter & fluid during TC replacement will suffice. The selling dealer, South County Dodge Chrysler Jeep gave me a bit of a warranty but only if they perform the work, we are twelve hours away so I will ask for TC only and I will furnish the Labor. I will let y'all know how that goes.

Good Luck with your situation Greg, I hope someone above the rep authorizes the dealer to replace it, we all know, it will fail.

Well everyone got some great news late yesterday! I got a phone call from the dealer and after a full diagnostic check they determined that my tc has to be replaced along with the front pump. :D I knew something was wrong with it! I will never go back to Harr jeep for anything I cant believe they had the audacity to tell me that there was nothing wrong and that there was nothing they could do! Even after calling Chrysler and opening a case they only believed what Harr was telling them.. Glad I had the insight to persue this and not except no as an answer!
Thumbs up to Herb Chambers Chrysler Dodge Jeep!

Fantastic News Greg! Dropped mine off at Acadiana Dodge yesterday for diagnosis/repair. Stored Fault Codes were P0700, P2706. They may call today with diagnostic info.

Perhaps you now may want to revise your post of March 14th on this thread?
