Greetings exalted Gurus,
I’m still working on completing the Sam’s Noob Guide for my 06 Liberty CRD.
1) Replaced Air Filter to K&N (aware of bad press). Will buy a Pro Guard 7 air filter very soon.
2) Fuel filter has been replaced in the last 10K miles. I plan on installing a Raycor 245 Fuel filter similar to Eurekaboy’s
setup (w/fuel press gauge & omega temp sensor) when the time comes.
3) Replaced Map Sensor with a new one 2 weeks ago. Huge improvement in drivability, I doubt it has been
cleaned/replaced since the truck was new. Just passed 60K miles this morning. Kept the old one to clean and re-use
when the time comes.
4) I plan on replacing the boost hoses when I install the GDE stage 2 turbo kit.
Other mods completed or in-progress.
1) Unplugged MAF (ORM Mod) when I replaced the MAP sensor.
2) In the process of building a DIY Provent-type CCV Filter.
Not sure if I missed it but I don’t know what to connect the braided hose to from the output of
the oil catch can. 3) Have a new EGR Valve to install, the CEL light came on last week with the requisite code. Just got the part 2 days
ago.
I’m wondering…
Since the MAP/Boost sensor was so nasty when I replaced it, is the intake manifold on the engine that disgusting as well?
Am I correct in thinking the MAP sensor probe is monitoring the intake manifold pressure?
I looked up the cylinder head/intake manifold procedure on ALLDATA and it was a very long and painful looking procedure, just to clean the gunk out of the intake system. Is it worth it to pull off the head and clean it or does that extra yuck get pulled into the engine and burned up a-la diesel combustion?
Any comments/suggestions are welcome.
Thanks.
John
