Ok, I currently have a WJ grand cherokee overland with 6.5" of lift.

Are there any Aussies on here that can tell me what the legal limit for a lift over there? I heard I have to pass some sort of inspection and want everything squared away before I go over there so there are no issues.

but based on some of the posts - you can get a small lift no problem (like a OME) but large needs an 'Engineering' inspection - to verify it's good...... and that doesn't sound friendly..

well the "legal" limit for a lift in Australia is around 2" including tyres a 6" lifted grand chero will get some attention, but there are ways and means, you can have your Jeep certified by an engineer and a compliance plate will be fitted, you have to do brake and swerve tests,

some of the guys running BIG lifts on Ausjeepoffroad.com will be able to give you more info

which part of AUS are you moving to. each state has different laws re lifts

If your part of the US military and get stationed somewhere(does not matter) you must comform to the local laws when dealing with vehicles.

Had that happen when I got stationed in CA,had SD plates and being in the military was not a resident of CA(nor had to claim it) but had to pass smog test to get my base sticker.

I have done some swerve tests myself. I added a Eibach HUGE front swaybar and Addco rear to control the jeep to the point i can slide it w/o tipping it. I also added ajdustable front and rear shocks to keep the body roll and front dive down under swerving adn heavy braking. I will head over to that forum and dig for more info, thanks!
