OK, so I'm a newbie. I have spent the last few months trying to find the perfect lift for my '05 Libby. It's a gasser. My head is swimming with info. I have read good things about JBA, and Frankenlift. Also read great things about OME. Read horror story after horror story about RRO. I am on a budget but want to do this right. HELP!!!

I have never worked on a suspension of any sort but am willing to give it a shot. (to learn and save on labor).

I have also been told to stay away from budget lifts.

Does anyone have input on JBA vs Frankenlift? And is there a more affordable way to do it?

-Much Appreciation

NOTE: I know that I will get the JBA A arms and that at some point I will be getting ARB bumpers front/rear so the lift will have to account for the extra weight to prevent sagging. Rescue gear imperative!

There is a little post all about lifts lots of great information
ARB does not make rear bumpers
Cheapest you're going to get is in the 7-800 range with everything (4) shocks, (4) springs bumpstops, etc.
OME springs are the best way to go and what JBA sells plus AllJs use them in the Frankenlift

Welcome to LOST where there is a ton of information if you take the time to read through it all!

I appreciate the info. I wondered if piecing it together is the way to go. OME seems to be the go-to stuff.

So aside from JBA A arms and OME coils n bumps....what else would you recommend to complete the lift?

OME 927s/948s
either OME shocks or Bilstein, make sure you get the 132Ls if getting OME rear shocks
Teraflex front bumpstops
rear use two per side Hockey pucks
if you want more lift then JBA 1/4 inch top plate for an extra 1/2 inch and 3/8 inch clevis for 3/4 inch more, if doing that two extra upper isolators in the rear per side
also depending on year brake line extension bracket for the rear

Wow! That is pretty in depth! I can't believe how incredible the people are and how helpful this is. I am a hardcore fan of Lifted KJs but have never had the 4x4 worth lifting until I sold my 2wd to buy this one 6 months ago. It's tough cuz you can't believe everything you hear or read. Also, I live in Tulsa and every shop I've talked to has told me it's not worth the money or time to mess with a KJ...or didn't know how to do a KJ. With the exception of one....Randy at Ryno's has spent an hour or so over the last 3 months giving me info.

I just got this setup with OME springs, Bilstein shocks, 4 rear upper isolators, 1/4" top plate from JBA, new LBJ's and JBA UCA's. That plus misc parts: hockey pucks, brake line relocation and other hardware and paying a shop to do the fronts for me I'm looking at around $1450 total. Without UCA's and LBJ's you can knock off about $525 off that price. I decided while it's torn apart I might as well have the new UCA's and LBJ's. You might get down close to $800 if you can do the front assemblies yourself.

Mine is not actually on yet but should put me at about 22 1/2" center of wheel to fender based on all the research I've done. Considering I'm slightly sagged at 18 1/2"-front and 19"-rear it should look pretty nice. I'm going to be running 245/70's for a while yet. I got new tires just this past December before I decided to go forward with a lift. Unless I get a good deal on some Moabs and can sell mine for a good price I'll be sticking with them for a while. Yeah a guy I used to work with started calling me that (my name is Jim) so I started using it.

Here's the coil and shock info (recommended by tommudd)...well, coils are pretty much the only ones recommended for the Liberty.

OME springs
OME 927 front springs
OME 948 rear springs
Bilstein shocks
F4-BE5-D916-H0 front shocks
and
F4-BE5-6458-H7 rear shocks

I feel bad for you guys....having to put up with newbies like myself trying to catch up on all the info. Yeah, Tom's the man. I was starting to drown in options.

I will be running the stock 17" wheels and 245/65/17 's for a while because this stuff is getting expensive quick. Will hafta upgrade in waves.

Hey everyone, im sorry to jack the topic but im sure this will answer several others questions. My 06 CRD is premium franky lifted and now has settled, i havent measured it but based on the rubbing im getting its not as high as it once was. Im looking at ordering JBA's front 1/4 spacers, but im unsure of how many to get to bring it to Max CRD lift without the CV angles getting too intense.

Im also curious how many rear iso's(top i assume?) will bring it level with the front.

Also, with the front JBA spacers, would the spring have to be taken off the shock, or do they mount elsewear?

Thanks guys :JEEPIN:

You can only install one per side, bolts are not long enough for any more
that will give you one half inch of lift
to install you pull the whole spring assembly out and place on top and reinstall , well just have to drop it down enough to place on top

Run it over here! :ROTFL:
Frankys are easy to install, just make sure you have some good rachet straps to pull them in

Just posted this in the CRD section since im looking to order this, hasty move on my part :banghead: . So with the top plate in, which sounds easy enough since i dont have to decompress the spring and take that apart, would i be able to do a clevis lift to to get me about an inch higher, and still be safe with my CV's?
