[quote="Silverkee"]I'd like the chance to meet all you guys. I often read your posts but don't post myself unless I have something useful to say. I like the idea of around coffs. Have been to most the places in SEQ. I also have about 8 weeks long service leave waiting to be used! So a longer trip the corner country would not be out of the question.[/quote
Welcome Silverkee,
Nice to have another KJ'er around, would be good to catch up sometime, Where are you at?
Regards Ross and Imelda

That area around the waterfall way sounds interesting, but open to anywhere, I'm not familiar with much in NSW.

another place for us to look around. http://www.environment.nsw.gov.au/resou ... elundi.pdf
some of this area I saw on the 4wd action camper trailer touring DVD and it looked pretty good.

Yes, Jason, it does look pretty good. We've driven through Ebor & Guy Fawkes NP a few times and the landscape is very pretty (cold in winter) I don't mind the idea of camping on one of the river sites :D

I noticed that three of the top fifty "Free Camping" sites listed in "Camping with your 4WD Magazine" are around the areas that we have been discussing as possible destinations.

One is 11kms east of Nundle, the Sheba Dam Reserve, it has toilets, shade, mobile access and allows dogs. GPS marks are Lat South 31 29 56, Long East 151 11 46.

ANother one is 9kms norht of Glen Innes, Beardy Creek, it has toilets, mobile access, allows dogs, but a time limt of 48 hours and you have to boil the water available there. GPS is Lat S 29 39 52, Long. East 151 46 37.

ANother one is Ellenborough Reserve, it has toliets, shade and allows dogs. GPS is Lat S 31 26 25, Long East 152 27 40.

The final one listed is further west, the Mendooran Rest Area, it has toliets, showers, shade, mobile access, allows dogs, but a 48 hour time limit. GPS is Lat S 31 49 28, Long E 149 06 53.
The Mendooran Rest Area probably is on the main road so that is probably out.

Even if we don't fancy these for our gathering its handy to know where they are and that they are free.

Cheers

Maybe we should add another item to the criteria list. Do you want to travel around and camp in different spots and if so how many nights in one place?
If we have a few camp spots available for free for up to 48 hrs max then we may be able to take advantage of this by travelling around.
My main concern is that most of us are going to be towing camper trailer and set up and pack continually could be a pain, especially if the weather goes bad.

I favour that we base ourselves at one location and if we feel the need.....have day trips from there.

There seems to be afew good sites on the link below

e.g. The Doon Goonge camp site located beside a river in the Chaelundi NP. Accessed by 4wd from either one of two directions and through locked gates (obtained from NPWS Dorrigo Office)

Try this link then
http://www.environment.nsw.gov.au/resou ... elundi.pdf

Time of year - let's say, end of July early Sept...just to get some reaction from everyone interested

Greg that link doesn't seem to work can you check it please. Late July probably suits me a little more than early Sept. First weekend in September is Fathers Day and we usually go skiing that weekend (but its not confirmed that we will do that this year - nothing booked yet), but the weekend of the 10th and 11th is OK with me. I have to begin heading up to for Cairns around the 18th of September for the Cape Trip so would not be able to make any of the dates after the 10th and 11th (because I need to get back to Sydney and there is Cape Trip prep list and time). I will be back from the Cape around mid October but I may stay up at my son's place for a while before coming back down.

Hi People's,
How about a pub lunch to say G'day on on weekend soon for all those close to brissie south? Meet & greet would also be a great chance to do some trip planning. Let's say June 29. Please nominate a pub nearby, cause I don't know where you are all located. I'm in sunnybank.

Would have been there in a flash but have already booked my bardge for a trip to Morton with some non-kj'er mates. Was down that way at Easter - real nice with all the rain. Maybe a day trip to the forestry north of brissie in the future. I'll keep an eye out for kj's passing through sunnybank. Mine is silver, with snorkel and chrome Tjm winch bar. Give us oi if ya see me about sunnybank.

OK... Just thought I would bump this back into circulation again. Are we still interested in getting together (i.e. NSW & QLDERS)? If so can we decide on a time and place? Suggestions so far r around the NSW central tableland NP's. Time scale could be around August/Sept.?
Or any further suggestions???
