I replaced the engine in my 02 grand cherokee and it fired up and then stalled after 3 seconds. The key light is lit on the dash and it will not start with either of my keys. I sent the pcm to be checked and it is good. I don't know what to do or why this is happening. It must be the skim system but I don't know. I would like to aviod the cost of the dealership as I have put many thousands of dollars into this truck. Is there a way to get the system to recognize my keys or am I going to have to have new ones programmed? Also would changing the engine have done something else that I am unaware of. It is the same engine from another Jeep gc. Please ANY help will be so greatly appreciated!

I don't think your keys have anything to do with it. :2cents:

we need more info, so let's start with the following:

1. Is the engine exactly the same as the one that came out? Recheck proper harness connections.

2. It could be a fuel issue... check to see that you are getting a constant supply of good clean fuel to the rail.

3. Check to see that you have fuel pressure at the injectors.

The expert members here may start chiming in on what else to check.

the engine is the same; and it was all properly hooked up. It was out of the same year Jeep and make/model. I do know that when trying to plug a computer scanner in it to read the codes; there is no power to that plug. and the key light is on and not flashing. I sent the pcm to be check and it is good. the mechanic went over everything twice to make sure all the grounds were connected as well as all the wiring. the fuel pump isnt kicking on but I have read that if the skim is shut down that it wouldn't be kicking on either. I am really unsure about this thing and just hope that someone sees this post and has dealt with this before. thank you for your input..... karen

Does his 2002 Grand Cherokee even have a CRD in it?

Flman, I think that Karen may be referring to a european version of the Grand Cherokee that is equipped with a Mercedes CRD.
