I noticed that at certain times when turning my tires were hitting when they didn't before. Every time they would hit I would say to myself "I have to measure the front end". I finally got around to doing it! It had dropped 1 inch! Springs or shocks? Or both?

I have the Frankinlift II Premium with a steel bumper and winch.

Terry

If you've got a good spring compressor (preferably wall mount)

think about OME790's on the front

they're great on the diesels - but several gassers are using them too.

Time to upgrade with the rest of us big boys Terry
get some 790s, new front shocks ( might as well since you'll have it apart) and reuse you gasser Franky parts
Good to go then!

Either OME or Bilstein
I'm running Ranchos RSX's in mine and we installed OMEs in Chris'
both doing great
I think I'd go OME though if I have to replace since the RSXs are no longer made

Remember one thing Terry if you go this route,
some claim to have the best KJ out there,
but not very many can run CRD 790 springs with gasser Frankenlifts parts and do it the style we do! :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL:

and also to others, unless you are running a heavy aftermarket bumper, and better yet an added winch this setup is not for you.

All gassers AND CRD's have style..........unless you live in UT. Then nothing helps.

Technically, since I pay more property taxes to the nations phallus (FL) than UT I am still more of a Floridian than a Utahn.... still get the resident discount at WDW too

Glad I'm not payin 8500 bucks in property tax in IL anymore.

You're not alone on the crushed OMEHD's I've got to upgrade to 790s myself

So if one were to be running the 927's and added a Rock Lizard front bumper with grill guard but no winch or hitch, the 927's should be fine? What about adding the light duty rear bumper as well...anything need to be done to compensate for that? Those are both on my wish list for next year. Along with some Moabs.

With a lighter front bumper 927s would be fine, remember I ran with an ARB hanging on the front for 100,000 miles and using 927s, I did have to add some clevis later on but they worked well. But adding anymore than that and you need to step up :2cents:

My question is why bother with gas front springs and shocks? Might as well get the crd springs/shocks from the get go.

Because if you don't have a heavy aftermarket front bumper and winch it will ride too rough. If you want a rock solid ride then go for it, well unless you have the above. Otherwise, bump, bump, bump, bump,.......
you know going from 310 lb stock worn out springs to 500 lb OME CRD is quite a difference in the ride.

Well I ask this because even though mods come slow for me, I do want a bumper and as we discussed per PMs a steel front diff. Sure they would be a long time out, but having to buy springs and shocks again would push other mods back. But I see your point.

A few weeks or a month would be one thing before adding bumpers etc. but say 3 to 6 months or more the ride would just be way to rough. Plus then what would you have to upgrade? Thats part of the fun. :ROTFL:
