Lift for my 04 Renegade. I'm beyond confused!

I already read the FAQ lift thread on here and I am still a little confused.

I have heard that the 2.5" daystar spacer lift and 3" rough country lifts are junk and not worth the money. I want to use my renegade to drive 3 out of 7 days per week and do a little mudding on the weekends (no rock crawling or any serious off roading). I was wondering if these rumors are true. Also if they are, is the Rockfather I lift a good one, it's only about $450.

Another quick question, what are the biggest tires I can use with said lift on stock wheels?

245/75/16 is what most people go for.

But since some things seem to have been taken the wrong way
Daystar is OK if you have a fairly new vehicle, an 04 with 90-100,000 miles is not a good candidate for a Daystar. Your springs are sagged like Grandma, installing spacers will only get you back to stock height.
The other one listed is junk

and no on the Rockfather I from RRO, if you read close you will see that is only front springs, spacers in the rear and their own brand of shocks. For a couple of hundred more you can have the start of a great lift instead of .....well not much
and 245-75-16 tires as stated

One other thing you do lift for offroad most times BUT you also UPGRADE your suspension for a better ride and better handling over all in day in day out trafic. So a full spring replacement with new shocks all the way around is needed

Hijacking this thread.

Looking at lifts for my own '04 I've already gathered from information here that if I'm not up in the $800 or so area I'm putting something onto my KJ that I really wouldn't feel good about having there. I'm wanting to try and budget it out to around $1000 by the time I have everything installed and aligned. I know in another thread there is talk saying that working with a budget the way to go is to order all the parts and assemble yourself, is assembling really any harder than the actual installation itself? (The most I've ever done is change out brake pads and fluids)

And then with kits, rocky road sounds out of the question with the negativity towards them using their own rear shocks, but I see the frankenlift getting good feedback. Rocklizard has the frankenlift I and frankenlift II on their in the 800-1000 range, so my question there is what is the difference between the frankenlift I and frankenlift II? Shes more of a road warrior than anything else so would using the frankenlift I over the frankenlift II and not using the premium really make that much of a difference for me?

hardest part of the lift is assembling the springs/front shocks, most spring compressors do not fir well the reason I have a shop do them, I can have the back done while they are compressing the fronts, then just keep moving. A KJs lift is one of the easier ones to do really I think out of all I have done over the years

Yeah I'm not too concerned about the installation itself, I have access to a decent hobbyshop for anything I need to do. I'm still not finding the difference between the I and II's so I figure I can just give them a call after work and get the specifics there. Though I'm starting to think that as long as I have a way/someone to help me get the fronts assembled (aka something I'd hope the hobbyshop would have) I'm going to be better off to just order and assemble myself.

OME, boiler top plates, and a few conduit nuts and if done right you can have a nice lift for and even 1000. Just do your research and price match you might even be able to find a nice set in here.

Spend it once and be done, save up if you have to. Some try the cheap way out, it just doesn't work. Unless you don't care about the ride quality or if you plan on staying on pavement :roll:

Edit: If you want cheap, I will give ya a killer deal. 2 front CRD springs(under20,000 miles) and a Daystar lift. $50! I am in Toledo if your interested. I know shameless plug :jester:

$800 - $1000 is the going rate for 2.5 - 3 inches on a Liberty.
Price only goes up if you want to go higher.

JBA has 4 and 6 inch lifts available for 02 - 07.
4 inch starts at $3000, and the 6 inch starts at around $6000.

Anything higher than that, and you're looking at an SFA (Solid Front Axle) conversion
which is easily $10,000 or more.

$800 doesn't sound so bad when you think about it..............

OME springs yes 927s/948s
Rancho shocks are gone, not made any longer so bilsteins or OMEs
JBA top plates
teraflex bumpstops for the front
Extra rear isolators one per side if going top plate from JBA and 1/8 inch clevis
hockey pucks yes thats OK :wink:

I'm confusing myself now, looking at different websites the OME927/OME948 coils are all listed as 1.5" of lift, the extra 1" is obviously coming from somewhere else, I assume? Also for the Bilstein shocks on JBA I see different sizes for the rear (stock, 2.5", 4"), but for the front I'm only seeing a stock size, am I actually wanting the 2.5" shocks? Additionally I'd want to make sure to get rid of the whole lowered front deal that is going on right now, is there anything additional I'd need to make sure that I'm sitting level afterwards or is what you listed enough to take care of that? Something else I want to make sure on is that with the Frankenlifts my understanding is that you're tapping the rear axle for bump stops, I'm assuming that following this even though I'm not using all OME parts I'm still able to not need to worry about having a drill to do that. Just another thing I don't know if I need to have on my list of what I need to check and see if the shop has before I start all this and realize I don't have what I need. Finally, staying in the 2.5"-3" range, will I have any concern about needing A-Arms right away or will I not need to worry about banging apart my stock ones, and I've seen some comments about getting closer to 3" with the lifts themselves, to pull this off what extra, if anything, would I need?

Sorry for so many questions, I have very little knowledge when it comes to this stuff.

You are reading things right but you get more than 1.5 inches of lift from OME springs in the first place. Then most everyone adds either a top plate or a clevis lift for even more lift. You can use various things and have almost as much lift as you do with a Franky

Tell you what
Think about which way you want to go either OME springs or Frankenlift and we can point you in the right direction as to what you'll need and how high you will sit.

I will say that with OME 927s front, 948s rear
JBA top plate and 1/8 inch clevis you'll be at 22.5 from middle of the wheel to bottom of the flare in the front so think it over
Stock when brand new was about 19 inches

Just got off the phone with the shop and they have everything I'd need to assemble the fronts myself, as well as do most anything else I could think of to ask about, so I want to go with OME and do it myself. So for using OME coils and Bilstein shocks am I looking at the 2.5" shocks in the rear and the stock height ones in the front or am I digging in the wrong hole or going about this wrong?

Pretty much heading in the right direction
927 front springs F4-BE5-916-H0 front shocks, JBA top plate and Teraflex bumpstops
948 rear springs and a couple of different Bilsteins you can go with , plus one extra per side rear upper isolator, with two hockey pucks per side for bump stops, 2-2.25 long carriage bolts with nuts to bolt down the bump stops
what year is yours? may need a brake line extension as well

jeepinbyal has everything available
or you can buy here and there
