I was wondering if anyone has HIDs installed on their KJs? I'm thinking about getting them but dont know which color to get. I'm leaning towards yellow. If you have pics please share!

Thanks

I had that but a shot of penicillin took care of it.

i wouldnt advise putting them into the headlights because of how bright they are. i have ddm tuning 55 watt 6000k in my fogs and raptor 55 watt 3000k in my hellas i had to retrofit. i personally like the 6000k for all round but for fog and nasty weather the 3000k put out some sweet light. check out ddm tunings site i wouldnt buy from anywhere elce just because ddm are cheap and not chinese crap that you find on ebay. If you do get them definitly get them in 55watt and not 35 because 55 watt bleeds out some of the color for a way brighter look.Image

libertank- how long have you had them?

I was looking to spend like $150 per set. $40 seems wayyyy too cheap. Are they plug and play, or do you have to wire them?

My fogs were direct plug and play you just have to find a place to stick the ballests. As for my hella 500s I had to retrofit the bulb into the lense. Ddm makes kits for our headlights but they glare way to much for me to feel safe to run them as anything other than high beams or off road lights without getting a ticket. As for price ddm can't be beat and their kits are Warrantied so they have to hold up or they wouldn't sell them. 150 is way to much for already illegal kits. Definitly a rip off to me.

Libertank, do you think the HID headlights will glare as much if I have my headlight bezel painted black? I'm thinking of getting at least the 3000k for the fogs and maybe 8000k for my headlights.

Even if the glare is eliminated , do you still think the 55 watt HIDs are too bright for the headlights and the fog lights? Are 35 watt HIDs even worth it? DDM says even the 35 watt HIDs produce over twice the lumens as halogens

if i accidentally leave my fogs on for a second to long towards an oncoming car 60% of them will flash their lights at me. i DONT recommend putting them in headlights at all no matter what color you get, the glare of retrofited hids can never be eliminated because liberty headlight housing isn't ment for that kind of light output. im also getting rid of the yellow bulbs and getting another set of 6000k for my hellas yellows glare to much off of street signs or anything reflective. personally 8000k are too blue if your going to get them for headlights get 4500k or something that looks more natural so you don't draw attention to yourself from cops. police are really quick to pull over someone with bright blinding blue headlights.

I decided to go with 35 watt bulbs. 3000 for the fogs and 6000 for the head lights.

i'll post some pics when they arrive.

on another note, i've read that DDM's shipping is sort of weird. people have said theyve received boxes that are beat up, no invoice inside, and they arent sure if they got the right parts. did you have a similar experience? in the end they all said it turned out ok, but DDM's customer service is just sort of flaky.

Funny thing. I got two emails from DDM with the same tracking number, but one linked me to fedex and one linked me to usps.

The number finally worked today through the USPS link, but it said the lights are shipping from China! I was wondering why it said they would arrive between may 20 something - june 3 when I ordered them May 13.

Wish their shipping was a little faster, but if they turn out good, I won't be complaining.

I got the headlights in last night and pulled out of my driveway, and I kid you not, literally the first car that drove by flashed me lol.

so i took the headlights out today, and put the fogs in to test em out tonight. this time it took about 9 or 10 cars before I got flashed.

To be honest, yes they are very bright, but it seems like an aiming thing. both sets of lights seems to shoot out too high. has anybody re-aimed their liberty lights before?

Im using stock renny fogs and bulbs and sylvania silverstars and I get flashed every other car even before I was lifted. I just know when driving at night to have my hand on the high beam stalk to show them Im not using brights.

well i lowered my headlights, and went out tonight. i didnt get flashed once, but i think i still might need to fine tune it.

also, i've got this weird booty high pitched sound that seems to be coming from my front left tweeter whenever i turn the brights on. that didn't happen the other night, but now i have both the new fogs and new headlights in at the same time.

anyone seen this before?

edit:

I'm almost certain its a grounding interference issue between my stereo/amp and the HID's. the tweeter buzzing stops when i put the radio in standby, and my radio steering wheel controls do not even work with the hi-beams on.

I was going to build HID projector system but I have since changed my mind to LED system. WAY BRIGHTER than HID, less amps and better waranty. I ahve an extra set of headlamps to do the deed with.

seems like the LED system would be more expensive.

what LEDs/how much will the LEDs cost that you are thinking of using?
