Washed the jeep and went for a cruise. And then I realized I was about 1250 miles past the recommended oil change. I think it has conventional oil? Its whatever the dealership uses. I know I need to get it changed but I dont have lot of time. Am I really ruining the jeep? Im only at 7300 miles. Do you think my local gas station would know to take off my skids to get to the oil filter?

1. Have you changed your oil since you bought it?
2. If answered "no" to the first question, change your oil now. Your "change engine oil" message should have popped up a while ago.
3. Synthetic is the way to go and worth the extra $ imo.
4. If they cant figure out how to remove the four bolts holding in your front skid, DO NOT let them touch your truck.

I changed it about 3000 miles ago at the dealership. How difficult is it to do it myself? Id much rather do that than pay someone else to do it, I just have no idea what time doing.

Not hard at all, normally. Removing the oil filter is the hardest part. Even harder to get one back on, but still not that bad. A filter wrench with a short or shortened handle will help.
First buy 5 quarts 5w-20 oil and filter (part #s vary from brand to brand)
Locate oil pan, remove plug and drain oil into drain pan. Dont lose the plug!
After draining stops, replace plug and tighten 1/4 turn past hand tight.
Move your drain pan forward about 12 inches or so to catch oil from the filter.
Using a flashlight locate the oil filter.
Remove oil filter with wrench.
Rub some oil on the new filter's rubber gasket.
Replace filter. Be careful not to pierce a hole in it with the wrench and and 1/4 turn past hand tight should be good.
Pour 5 quarts oil in with a funnel.
Start engine, let it run a few minutes, shut it off, then check oil with dipstick.
Done.

Thanks man. Sounds easy enough.

Synthetic is a waste of money if you change your oil ever 3-5 you are throwing your money away. Now if you are changing it ever 5-7 still throwing your money away being that the filter is loaded full of crap before that.... When I was on the 350z board there were heated debates every 3-5k with someone new and different every time. So I asked my neighbor who is a certified mechanic and has been doing it for over 25-30 years went through a hole oil seminar and thats what he told me. Its up to you and how you want to spend your money go with some regular oil and change it regularly. Being a broke college student I tend to try and save cash where I can when needed. Plus I learned my lesson on synthetic oil when I owned a boosted nissan all it is are dollars out the tailpipe from blow back.... just my 2 cents.

Also if you go to valvoline or somewhere they usually have deals on there service it is usually cheaper then doing it yourself or about the same for less hassle and mess and then you have to go dispose of the oil the right way. Again not trying to be negative nancy just did one to many oil changes in my days of wrenching on sports cars to give a fly CUSS lol. I would rather put a cold air intake or exhaust on a car any day then change oil.

Moving on

I detailed the KK thought of ways to drive it off a bridge or into a wall with out getting hurt but it totaling itself j/k. Put a coat of wax on it cleaned her up. Going to the junk yard tomorrow to see if the liberty they have has tow hooks trying to get it some what trail ready for a trip to the dunes at the end of the month.

Nice set up Dirty. The cross bars will really help make the kayak stable up there. I'm STILL waiting for the rain to quit long enough to get the boats out. Rivers around here still too high and fast. Local lakes will have to do for now if it would just stop raining on the weekends :banghead: Any luck with a catch?

ya when i went to pick up the kayak i didnt have cross bars, yeesh! much better with my homemade bars. didnt catch anything but i didnt fish much at all to be disappointed. really i just went out to test the kayak and scoped the place out. without a boat you can only fish from about three spots, all three close to each other and two of em you can see in the first pic. ive been there less then a dozen times and only ever caught three fish. one of em was a 6lb bass though i caught last spawn! ill probably just stop goin there since i never have any luck. only reason i go is because its close to the house.

need to add a few things to the yak yet.

Installed the tow wiring harness finally... Also ran the CB cable along with it so I finally have a clean/always connected source to plug my radio into instead of having a wire running out from my rear hatch.

    1. washed it.
    2. relocated EVAP Canister for maximum driver's side departure clearance.
    3. changed oil and filter.
    4. waxed it.

Didn't get everything done I wanted, but glad I accomplished what I did.
