The components I ordered are on back order, and I have my Earthquake 4ch amp laying here doing nothing. My question is this... I have not taken apart my door speakers yet, but from my understanding, there is a built on amp on the speaker it self, like the old Inifinty crap and other aftermarket/stock factory upgrades. Basicly I want to run my front and rear stage off my spare amp, becasue of the lack of control from the I-DVA300 HU (lol lack of controll).

I wounder what would happen if I amped the stock speaker as is, without removing the factory amp. and what about the tweeter? is there a crossover hidden somewhere? or is it just a cheap resister on the dome? anyone take this stuff out and look at it yet?

I don't have actual knowledge on the subject from taking anything apart, but I assume the tweeter just has a cheap resister like you said. The only reason I say that is that when I really crank one of my two rap cds (I own around 100 cds, and 2 of them are Kanye West haha) bass tries to come through the tweeters and it sounds horrible.

I want to upgrade my speakers cause the like do - do, can't handle my Bass very good at all. So with that said I am purchasing some decent speakers for both the front and rear doors. I am considering adding a AMP to the factory stereo as well, if the speaker upgrade is NOT to my liking. Any info in these areas will be helpfull. Thanks for all your input!

I removed the amped speakers, you need to cut wires and put them together, on the front door you will have cables for tweeters, rear speakers and front speaker, also a positive and negative, so you need to cut and match. and leave the pos and neg taped.

the rear ones are simple, as long as you had cut and connected teh right cable sin the front.

Are you using the Alpine IVA-D300? What control are you lacking?

Did anybody ever try amping the already amped Infinity speakers. I'm just about done installing my new system and want to make sure I don't fry anything before I plug it all in. Right now I've got an Alpine MRP-F450 running into the stock speaker harness behind the dash. Thanks.

Yeah you can connect to stock amped speakers directly to an amped deck . . . it won't fry anything. As a matter of fact they will sound noticeably louder and cleaner! But, in time you will have to replace them, I got about 3 years before I blew the front right and decided to swap them ALL!

And for anyone installing speakers in the Front . . . do yourself a Favor and cut/reconnect the wires for the Rear while you are at it . . . otherwise you'll be wondering why you have NO sound in the rear and be pulling the front doors all off again just to do that.

I don't remember the color codes to short circuit (positive to positive, and negative to negative) so that you get sound in the rears . . . it was a pain to figure out. If I can find my cheat sheet I may post the colors up . . .

But, If I can't find it . . . and you're swapping them all out then you can just strip the wires and use a double A (AA) battery and put it between the wires while someone else watches the rear speaker. When the rear speaker jumps OUT then you have the right polarity, meaning the wire touching the positive on the battery is your positive wire. If the speaker jumps IN then you have the polarity reversed. Very handy trick to help make sure you aren't reversed so you don't wear out / distort / blow your rear speakers accidentally!
