I broke the clips. My door took the rock across it so now its got some deep scratches. If I get rock sliders, do I still keep the plastic rockers on or not? Anyone take the plastic off before they get sliders?

Ouch.... I reinstalled the plastic after I put on my sliders. The plastic fits back in there nice and snug.

If you wanted to remove the black plastic I had an idea. When I was fitting my sliders I wasn't sure the plastic would go back on so I was thinking up different ideas to cover all the holes left and the best I came up with was to use body panel clips probably black in color and just insert them into the holes. I think it would look kind of cool.

Almost ripped one off once, its a bit off camber now. I look forward to ripping mine off and replacing them with meaty rails. May I ask what rock you used to remove the drivers side front?

Well, my implication was the specific one as it seems just right to remove that front piece :ROTFL:

I took that plastic crap off when I put on my rock rails. It was already jacked up anyhow. Kinda like how it looks without it. I live in the desert so I'm not really worried about rust though.

Okay I've been wondering how to take these off...guess you just take a rock or rocks to it

Seriously...how do I get them off the right way? I want to get mine off! I need to see if there is any rust up under there...

Grab and pull. They just pop in and pop off.

What about the front flares on a 05-07 KJ like mine? If I took them off the front turn signal would be exposed up at the top. My front fender wells are already loose from where I trimmed too much  OOPS...Maybe if my interview Monday morning turns into a job; I'll take the front fender, rear fenders and rear bumper off to celebrate  :-)r I want Renny flares and I'm buying a custom rear bumper in September.

I installed my JCR Offroad sliders yesterday. Broke a couple of the clips removing the plastic rocker panel covers. Left the lower clips off and reinstalled the covers with the upper clips only. Seems snug as the lower part is sandwiched between the new sliders and the body. If they turn out not to be as snug as they seem, I think I'll just remove them. I like the look of that silver Liberty from El Mirage.

Depends on the rails. Mine also bolt into the pinch weld behind the plastic covers.

Yes that,s right as most do have bolts in the pinch welds, and you still don't have to remove the cover. Have done two sets of JCRs in my garage and neither did we have to remove the covers. Also have done Rock Lizards and Boulder Bars so have installed most all kinds available. Takes maybe 5 minutes more but no clips broken etc.

I've seen at least one liberty with the holes plugged with those christmas tree plugs from autozone. On a dark vehicle they blend in nicely.

I pulled off my rocker panels yesterday. Since my KJ is black, you can hardly see the holes.

Yeah give me a few...I've been moving furniture around all day and started to push mowe my yard. Hunger hit me and I had to go get a personal pizza and a couple cherry pepsis

Want to see the pics right after I pulled them off (i.e. the ones that show all the dirt that was hiding up under the rocker panels)?

BTW, if anyone wants my rocker panels they're free...
