Hey ya'll,
I'm in the process of starting a gather parts for my CB install. Couple of questions for those in the know.

1: which is the better radion, Uniden Pro 520XL or the Midland 1001z
2: do I really need a 4ft firestalk or would the 3ft be ok?

Thanks
Aaron

Which radio is better is like asking which color KJ is better.

I have a Midland 1001LWX, I like it.

4 ft is better, will improve your range, but I use a 3ft so it will fit in the garage. :D

The radio is the least important part of the equation. The quality of the antenna and cable is most important along with getting it properly tuned for SWR. Where you mount it will determine whether a 4' or 3' is the better choice; you will want 6"-1' above your roof line to have adequate signal transmission.

I have the same problem, my garage is low so I don't think I can swing a 4" antenna.
Is there a drastic difference between the two?
