Repair it, what else can you do?
then buy a stick so next time you'll get out and measure the hole of water before blindly driving in!

I'm going to repair it but I don't know what the next step is. Going to have a mechanic look at it and see what they think.

Full rebuild or buy/install a remaned 42RLE.Both not cheap but alot cheaper then another car payment.

i don't know how it would work out...but you could have turned it into the insurance company...had the jeep totaled, keep the cash. then go out and buy you a new/used jeep. that seemed easier to me than going through all this. like i said i don't know how that stuff works out.

Yeah most insurance company's will not cover damage done while "offroad".Glad all trails here are "forest service roads" so I'm covered.

your tranny may not be completey toast.

Bring it to a reputable trans shop for a thougrough cleaning and flushing. How much did you add after the pan was dropped? Did you start up the vehicle and have it in N to check the level, then add more fluid until it was warm and full? Also, did you cycle the selector from R - N- D N R a few times?

If you had that much water in the pan, you will have to have ALL of the fluid drained/flushed, and that cannot be accomplished by draining the pan. It may take a few cycles of flushing and draining to remove all of the water.

Once you get to a baseline of clean fluid, then you can begin troubleshooting.

Ahhhh I just had to get a whole new body control module. Tranny is fixed. There was water in both diffs and the tranny, but none in the transfercase. Total repair cost is approaching $1500. :dizzy:
