I took my moms compass to the shop today becuase it needed an alignment and while on the machine they noticed that the LBJ were bascially shot. Also he took me into the shop and showed me that you can take the tire and wiggle it back, forth, up and down and the LBJ definately didnt look well.
So the shop owner told me that you couldnt just replace the LBJ, you actually had to replace the lower control arm in order to get a new LBJ becuase they come together and you cant just pop the ball joint out... which I was suprised bc on the libertys you can just pop it out, but I didnt argue bc I wasnt 100% correct bc they are 2 different vehicles.
So my basic question is, was he correct about having to replace the whole control arm just to get a new LBJ? He freakin quoted me over 1,000$$ for parts and labor bc there are supposidly no aftermarket lower control arms, so you have to get them from the stealership for 240$$ a side
and with both sides needed to be done thats crazyness...
Im currently looking on the internet for more info and parts, but any information would be amazing! Becuase I know all of you are more knowledgeable then me
