I just finished up with the 100,000 mile service at 100,300 miles. One of the timing belt idler pulleys was really wobbly with it's grease flung out. The other one was loose but not ready to fail.

It would be my luck to get a bad apple, that's why I don't buy lottery tickets.

After giving the pulleys another look before tossing them, I must correct myself. Part of the slop that I thought was bearing wear really wasn't, it was coming from the mounting bolt. But the pulley leaking it's grease was still worn enough in the bearing to see under it's grease seal lip.

My pulleys looked good when I did mine but I did post a pic of my belt that had lots of small dry-rot cracking!
It's not worth waiting!

I call BS on that pic. That's a junkyard motor, and NOT one that is our CRD. That sad motor has obviously been left to rot out in the elements for a long time.

Under my front cover after 108k miles, the pulleys were all tight and clean, smooth turning with no wobble at all.

I *only* replaced the belt. Retained the pulleys and tensioner and water pump.

Your BS is served Mr LaForge:

A guys DD volvo, decided it was time to change the belt and thats what he found.

Of course its not the one in our CRD though, I was using the image to illustrate a point.

Now, anyone else care to call BS on me?
