Remove the PS pulley so I can replace my serp belt tensioner? Do I pull off the three 10MM bolts, or...? Not finding any info on this.

Thanks!

Go to viewtopic.php?f=5&t=24600 and download a copy of the 2006 FSM. Once done go to page 7-27 for the how to. In the 1st figure #7 is the belt tensioner and #8 is the power steering pump pulley. The single belt tensioner retaining bolt is #1 in the 2nd picture (in the 1st picture it's the bolt head to the left of the tensioner and above the PS pulley). Don't be fooled by the odd perspective in the 2nd drawing as what appears to be a bolt head in the center of the tensioner is not a bolt; it's what's used to relax the tesioner; as noted the tensioner retaining bolt is off to the side of the tensioner. Reinstall is the reverse on page 7-28. Bottom line is you don't need to mess with the PS assembly to remove the tensioner.

DO NOT look for this same information in the "e" copy of the 2005 FSM. It's not there as Section 7 of the 2005 FSM "e" copy lacks diesel information.

I never tried removing the tensioner without removing the power steering pump pulley first. If you need to remove the pulley, it is a simple matter of removing the three 10mm bolts and pulling the pulley off by hand. Use a 3/8" extension bar in one of the big holes in the pulley rotated to the eleven o'clock position to hold pulley from rotating while loosening and tightening the 10mm bolts.

Thanks for the info and the link! When I tried pulling just the retaining bolt out last evening and then pulling off the tensioner assembly, it did not seem to want to come out and appeared to be blocked by the PS pump pulley. I'll take another look at it this afternoon and see if I can get it out of there without removing the PS pulley.

Thanks again.

You are right, it is blocked. You can remove the power steering pulley with the 3 bolts you see. No problem.
