Hi,
This is more a question for owners of CRD 2.5, on the instrument panel near the tank gauge there is a little light on the right hand side (red once on - " i had posted left of tank guage"), what is it for? What does it indicate? In over 2 years ownership it has come on about 2 or 3 times that I have noticed. Jeep run perfectly well during the time it's on. Each time I stop turn the KJ off and start it up again light stays off!!! I have checked the owners manual but there is no information about it!! Anyone have an answer? KJ is not due for a service for another 5000mls according to the computer.
Thanks
Fil

Based on a look at the instrument panel section of the 2002 FSM posted at http://colorado4wheel.com/manuals/Jeep/KJ/ it looks to be the security alarm indicator light; same as on the 2005/06 KJs.

Hi ,
thank you for the answer, I posted incorrectly where the actual light is, it's actually right of Tank Gauge bottom, I don't think it's Security System light as the KJ keep running perfectly, as I said I turn the KJ off and when I turn it back on NO light on!!

But just to be safe rather than sorry, what to you mean by "Security System" ? I am sure not the allarm / immobiliser as otherwise the KJ would stop!!

Same answer, according to the FSM referenced that's the only light adjacent to the fuel gauge. 2005 2.8 owner's manual says if light stays on, not flashing, while driving that there is a "fault in the system" but provides no further guidance. Otherwise it's only supposed to come on for a few seconds during the normal bulb check at startup and when you lock the door with the remote it's supposed to blink for a few seconds. Sounds like you may have an intermittent system issue but what it is and whether it throws a code I don't have a clue.

On a separate note I wouldn't rely on the EVIC for my service interval rather I'd rely on actual odometer miles since last service; IMHO I use a 6,000 mile service interval. The EVIC, at least the 2005 one, cannot be set for a preferred interval and the one it defaults to seems unrelated to either Service schedule A or B. In addition that reading is based on the last time the EVIC service interval mileage was set which may or may not have anything to do with actual mileage if the EVIC is accidently reset between intervals.
