While driving to Maine the car started hesitating at hwy speed. Got on to the state roads and found that it was hard to accelerate at around 40 mph. Started fine next morning but had a definite loss of power and lots of black smoke initially plus a somewhat faint wooshing sound. Ran a scan and it gave me po 299 (underboost condition) and the infamous po 401 (recirculation flow insufficent) and po 102 (mass flow). I changed the fuel filter this morning--meant to do it before leaving--and there was no change. I cleaned the egr about 12k miles ago. I would appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction. Also Turbo hoses seem fine. car just turned over 100k. Thanks

Check turbo actuator. Ours partially failed 2 years ago (short stroke) causing low boost code, low power/smoke.

Turbo hoses "seem" fine? Did you actually remove them and check all the undersides for rips/tears/splits?
