I have my newly installed, remaunfactured engine running but I have a fuel leak...it looks like the leak is coming from the back of my fuel pump. It's kinda hard to say for sure but I have checked all of the supply/return lines and they appear to be good...no leaks.

The fuel pump that I have on the engine is the original one which has 110,000 + miles on it. It set up for about 6 months while I was working thru my warped head/engine replacement fiasco.

If anyone has installed a new fuel pump, did you use the VM 1055 & VM 1067 special tools that the FSM say to use? Any other pointers?

You might try a Google search on a search term similar to "CP3 leak". Seems that quite a few of this family of pumps have leaked. Some were re-sealed and others were replaced with rebuilt pumps.

I checked with wholesalemopar today on the price of the injection pump...wow talk about sticker shock! $2008.
I only paid $3200 for the remanufactered long block engine. (only $3200... like it's pocket change) I did check all of the fuel lines, fittings, etc but I'm goin back in to take a double & triple check to make sure it's not one of them.

I'm hoping that it is one of the lines/fittings - my wife is getting tired of seeing my head stuck under the hood and our money flying out Jeep windows.

Thanks Wobbly,
I think that I may have found my problem. I removed both of the fuel lines that connect to the injection pump and found that somehow I was missing one of the copper washers....duh. I have a couple of them on order, when they come in I'll reassemble it and hopefully no more leaks.

Good to find the missing washer now rather than after plonking down a thousand or two for a new or rebuilt pump.
