Does anyone have or have installed U-Connect in a 2005 CRD?

If you have U-Connect.....Does it work properly? I'm thinking on trying to find a unit and installing it. I want to make sure that if I go thought the trouble that it functions as designed....HJ

are you talking about U-connect?

they make a kit that you can buy i think that it is 250 or 300

I think it would be too much trouble for a little value added. I have an 06 CRD and U connect works intermitently. I have to pull the fuse to reset it (and Sirius) occasionally. U Connect works pretty well with my Sony cell phone , worked with my wife's old iphone but will not work with her new one. The voice command interface is not too effective but I have not played with it a lot to sort it out. Glad I got U connect 'free' but would not add it. There are bluetooth after market systems for hands free phone use that worked in other vehicle for me.

My problem is I have some hearing loss and can't hear the phone ring when I have the radion on most of the time......Do these aftermarket things mute the radio when an incoming call comes? HJ

AFAIK they do not. It is neat in the U connect that it switches over from radio or other sound source or if it is off the phone just comes through.

Mine works OK with my 5 year old Verizon Motorola phone. Yes it mutes the stereo when you have an incoming call.

However, people I talk to say it sounds like I'm talking from the bottom of a tin can.

Also the Mopar aftermarket kit is not the same as the factory installed. Factory installed has the microphone and button in the rear view mirror. That's the one to get, not the add on.
