So heres the deal. Ive been wanting a vehicle with a little more balls..sooo i was think instead of buying a faster vehicle why not just keep it jeep but make it hall some stupid!! :grim:
Heres then tenative plan.

1.Upgrade gear ratios. what would be the best in everyones opinion?

2.heres the expensive part...new engine and transmittion somthing new? ive herd u can buy any LS line of engine online? May be way to costy though. What are some of your sugesstions on what motor to get and trany. i have never built a drag car but have been around them my hole life. So i am very open to any suggestions.

3.new tires to look a little more of a drag car.

4.Upgrade the hell out of the engine!! :grim:
and much much more....ha

If ya have been around drag cars your whole life I am assuming you must be very young or haven't been paying attention.
Buy a vehicle other than a 4x4 block of concrete for a drag vehicle. :google: drag car, racing or maybe check out an organization called NHRA, I hear they might have something to do with drag racing. There's my suggestion and :2cents: , keep the change if ya don't like it :jester:

He's young. :seuss:

I would have the moderators put this in the performance 4X2 section of the forum.

you will all see!! and yes i am young. But anything can be done with enough money. And with my familys help the people that build drag cars im gana do it!! I probley will make some laughts.....when i blow everyones doors off ahahah. But this is a very very tenative IDEA. Sooo who knows if i will even try. I was looking into a mitsubishi 3000gt mostly because of price and i can put and evo motor in one, thats at least what my brother says and hes has the evo 10. And yes, buying a new car that i could make "fast" would be much easier and cheaper but...i sure do love my libby. :JEEPIN:

I think even with an ls1 the liberty could never be more than quick. Maybe a turbo ls1 or ls1 + big nitrous shot or a nasty cam'd ls1.

a stock LS1 gto runs a 13.xx-14.xx depending on car set up and driver. add 2000lbs and no aerodynamics and your into 17xx or 18xx. so to have a liberty that would beat anything you'd need ATLEAST 800hp... then the drivetrain is going to explode. or convert to 2wd.. bullet proof tranny with the motor swap, and a detroit locker and hard axles in the 8.25 would hold up for a little while.. but would wheel hop like mad without new rear suspension.

hate to crush your dreams.. but for just a drag car buy a 240sx and then put in a turbo/blown LS1 or LS2. or buy a older camaro/firebird that has a LS1. even 2004 GTO's are not very expensive now. all of those builds can be in the 9's or 10's for what you would have in the KJ

I watched an 8000# 4x4 crew cab ford with a Diesel run in the 12's in the quarter...I say if you have deep pockets, go for it. If you can find a wrecked car or search junk yards all over the internet, you maybe able to find a decent LSX mileage motor with tranny and complete harness/computer. Look, Wildman Larry is doing a SMF 302 swap so anything is possible.

If you don't want 'SMARTA$$ COMMENTS' -
you probably shouldn't post things that invite 'SMARTA$$ COMMENTS'

The top 2 being - trying to make the Liberty a dragster - or trying to make it an economy car......

it's not either - it's a Jeep - it does Jeep things very well
but there are Non-Jeep things that it won't do well at all - but you can burn a lot of money trying.....

However if you want to learn about going faster - search for KY Liberty's Nitrous work - and follow up with KJWildman's engine swap...

Yeah your going to want to throw away the 8.25.If you plan on some big HP #'s better be thinking a FF D60 in the rear at min.Going to have to address body flex also with frame stiffiners and say bye-bye to 4wd as the steel D30 JBA conversion will not hold up to that much HP,let alone the 231 or 242 t-case.Your going to have more $$$ into yours then mine by the time it's done right and works.

Just remember also if you do a engine swap and to be legal(even if no inspections or emssion testing) you must use a engine from a vehicle of the same year or newer then your KJ.
