viewtopic.php?f=5&t=47123The new fuel head is easy to ID. The 2 power plugs should be essentially equal in size and the driver's side one is likely a bright blue which comes with the new pigtail. If the driver's side plug is noticably smaller than the passenger side one then you have a 1st gen fuel head the will need replacing. To replace you need both the new head, comes with a filter installed, and the pigtail. Check around on prices as they do vary a bit.
No need to spend the bucks on a Mopar fuel or oil filter after market is fine. I prefer WIX. WIX 33647 for fuel filter and either Wix 51516 or Wix 51515, full oil fill with the former is 6.3 qts vs. 7 qts for the latter so I'd go with the latter. (FYI the oil dip stick marks tend to be off such that if you fill to the dip stick full line you have overfilled and the excess will blow out thru the CCV which is not good)
Other than that if you have not already done so read Sir Sams NOOB guide.
Thanks papaindigo! I didn't notice the bright blue, but I did disconnect them and they were pretty much the same size. As it turns out, I think the previous owner did take pretty good care of the Liberty because all the filters were Mopar and he even had a Fumoto valve on there, which made my first oil change a snap tonight. The down side is that the tranny is shuddering a lot which means it needs some serious attention. I was already planning on a new TC, but now I'm thinking it may be more. It's gonna hurt because I also need to do the 100k mile service which is quite spendy. It's a good thing that I got a decent deal on this CRD.
