help...engine suddenly rattles when accelerating from stop..

I thought i would ask you guys as my wife just had the problem this morning.

I have every now and then the following trouble on my 2005 CRD:
When accelerating from a stop (typical traffic light turing green) the engine start rattling, loosing almost all power ( i could walk next by and go faster) . The engine does not stop, but it makes rattles and vibrate like hell. When opening the hood, the engine makes a lot of heavy vibrations.
It is like it is running on 1 or 2 cylinders instead of 6 (4, just kidding...).

There is no OBD light at the dashboard.

I normally stop on the road side, switch-off the engine , wait 2-3 seconds and start again : runs perfect !!....

Anyone has an idea ? dirty injectors ?

Have you checked the fuel filter head for leaks?

no, how do you detect a leak there ?

I also realise now that i have not replaced the filter from my additional (to the stock one) Racor prefilter 245R30 since i installed it...

Take of the electrical connectors. Then pump. Fuel wil probably leak out of the fuel heater connector in the fuel head. (if you still have the stock Bosch crap..)

i unplugged the electrical and pumped a few time but no sign of leak.

no i have not replace the filter of the large one since I installed it.... it is a 30 microns and it is upstream the stock one.
I ordered the cartridge and will do it.
