Air in fuel

Hello;
Our 2005 Liberty is starting to have issues with stalling, hard start and all the other lovely symptoms of the air in fuel issues. I bleed the air, prime the pump and bleed the air again. Seems to work for a while, then repeat.
I am fairly certain it is the older filter head on the vehicle.
Does anyone know a good source (part number?) for the upgraded unit?

The part #s for the 2n gen are fuel/water separator assembly (with new filter) 68043089AA and wire harness kit 68043086AA (NOTE the colors of the new wires don't match the existing harness but not to worry just assemble matching, as closely as possible, the wire sizes as in the picture). They are running about $125 from on-line outlets if you shop around a bit. Last buy I know of was from Steve White Motors.

It's really an easy install. Hardest part for me was getting the electrical part correct because mine came with many small connections that were not needed (electrical ain't my thing). I think GDE's site has a good picture of which wires match up. If not, I can send one via email as well.

Im not too worried about the electric, just want to make sure I dont blow up my wife again! :lol:

I've seen discussions about the lift pump. Is this really worth the effort to install?
We don't off road, like we used too, as in this section of Texas there is no real challange to it.

Oh bTW, the Fumto drain valve was a great add on, for the first time in 151k miles I did not get covered in oil!

The pigtail comes with 1) the new plug; 2) a blue plastic piece; 3) 2 sets of wires even though you only need one; 4) and no instructions. The new wires are different colors than the old but as I noted match by size (fat>fat and skinny>skinny even though the sizes are not an exact match either) not color. To do so feed the new wires into the new plug oriented the same way based on size as in the old plug. I forget which way you feed the new wires into the plug (front to back or the reverse - front to back if ??? my memory is working but...) but take a look at the plug end of the wires and it's obvious how they feed into place. The blue plastic thing is designed to snap onto the new plug once the wires are installed to hold those wires and connectors in place when the plug is pushed into the driver's side fuel head heater receptical.

Once you have the pigtail assembled you can cut off the 1st gen pigtail (be sure to disconnect your battery - absent the ignition being turned on the circuit should not be hot but....) and hookup the new wires. Solder and heat shrink tubing is a good method. I cheated and used marine grade crimp butt connectors with pre-glued heat shrink tubing just because I had some on hand, easy if a bit expensive (like $0.50 per connector in small bulk)
