JCR Sliders.who has them

I know there have been fitment issues with these sliders but the design seems to fit my needs best. Meaning they are not as beefy as the skink which for me is good since I don't do heavy rock crawling and I like the bent up step that will help with reaching the roof rack. I would like to get a set but before I shell out the money I am wondering if I am going to run into the same issues, this reminds me off RRO products not sure on there customer service but if that is the way it is going to be then I would rather wait until I get a set made. Any pictures of the issues in question?

Check members from Ohio
BugginKJ and Megalos
both have them and both sets done in my garage
fitment issues is the one bolt hole hits right where there is a hole in the frame so on one set we didn't install a bolt there, other set we installed a pc of metal behind and slid it into the frame
other than that there are no other issues

that being shown, they are still solid as hell, and i should have put the pinch on the inside of the seam, but it wouldnt of made much of a difference at all. they look good and hold up, although i havent had them holding the weight of the car.. yet

Same fitment issue as tommudd. I have hit them pretty hard and they only got scratched.

When mounted properly (irollgen4s has them on the wrong side of the pinch weld) there is only a minor issue with one hole on each side which is easily fixed. They are very well built and are extremely strong. :JEEPIN:

Curious on the size tubing for the main supports. Is it 2" x 4"?

believe me, we tried every possible kind of mounting tactic prior to drilling any holes. we tried for an hour. putting them on the inside would have given us 1/8th and inch, and we needs 3/4s in the rear and 1/2 in front... substantial amount of steel missing there. so we decided to mount them on the outside so we could just make 1/4inch plate of aluminum in increments to fill in the gaps.

My original set of Super Skinks fit like a glove,no mods needed besides the required drilling of holes,was a custom set also(longer then production sets),same went with the 2nd set of Super Skinks custom made for the SFA,perfect fit with no modifying at all.The outer tube is more then perfect for me to reach my tool boxes on my Basket Rack and I'm only 5' 8".

And your original set is still doing a great job allowing their "new owner" the same benefits :lol:

Oh and they mounted on mine with no problems as well :wink:

You should have bolted them to the subframe first then draw the pinch weld to the mount on the rails. If there was still a major gap then I would have sent them pics mounted properly and gotten a new set made if made incorrectly. They are great to deal with. The plates you have in there make a weak point in the mount and will not stand up to extreme use like dropping off onto a rock or log. But if your happy with them with the way they are, enough said.

RL's stuff no doubt is hands down the best out there, no discussion there. JCR just offers a more economical product with a warranty, they have some minor issues to work out but can be reached any day by phone or email to work out said issues. Not slammin RL by any means either.
The biggest problem with Liberty owners is them putting their wallet where their mouth is making it difficult for companies to dedicate time and research to Liberty products. Many as you know say they want this that or the other thing and there are many companies out there with the talent to make what ever product but there are far fewer people willing to lay cash out for quality products and craftsmanship. I myself could build a set that fit like a glove, have superior welds, and be ultra strong but when I add up my time and material not to mention a warranty, I just let JCR build mine. :JEEPIN:

Last I heard he hadn't made or shipped anything in quite some time.

RL's stuff is good quality and you get what you pay for. Just a little too steep for me and more steel then I need. I am giving it serious thought, the warranty almost seals the deal. I get my new tires this weekend, would compliment it well with some new sliders.

I think if you build a great product from the get go then you don't have to advertise a warranty since you would never have an issue where you would need one.
I know that if there was ever an issue RL would take care of it, but even with Troy dropping off a rock real hard with the ones I have now, nothing was hurt or broken.

To me, JCR is so confident in their product, they're willing to replace it free of charge
if it fails for any reason.

Second, Rock Lizard is quite far away, add shipping to the cost of their slider, and
I'm quickly approaching $500. I can drive 2 hours to pick up from JCR, and spend less than
half shipping in gas round trip.
To me, it's economics.

Third.... and most important IMHO...... there is finally a new vender out there willing to
make accessories for our Libertys, and so many people on the board start "bashing" the
product because they apparently feel they must out of "loyalty" to another vendor.

Why on earth would you want to discourage ANYONE from providing an aftermarket alternative
for a Jeep that gets little enough attention in the aftermarket as it is??

I have nothing against Rock Lizard's products, or All J's, or JBA, or any other vendor here.
Are RL sliders the most beefy?? Absolutely.
Are they the heaviest??? Most certainly.

Are All J's boulder bars they most popular?? Seems like it to me.
Do they have good customer service??? Absolutely.

Will I get either of their sliders???? Not likely.
Why??? Economics.
RL super skinks are $415 plus shipping.
Basic Boulder bars are $349 plus shipping. (And they don't offer the additional round tube option)
JCR Stage 3 sliders are $299 plus shipping, and I get them next day (most likely)
because of where I'm located.

Just having a little trouble understanding the attitude............. :2cents:

I don't yet have sliders from anyone, and being in England, the cost of shipping from any maker to me will be huge. To my mind, however, the fact that a company offers a full warranty on their product does no more than indicate firstly that they have complete confidence in it, and secondly that if anyone is unhappy for any reason to publicly confirm that they will stand behind the product and deal with the customer's issues. This is particularly important for a company trying to break into a relatively small market where there are already some established and highly reputable manufacturers.

The market for aftermarket Wrangler bits is huge both in the US and internationally - even in the UK there are companies both importing stuff for Wranglers and making it - to order if you like; for the KJ, the market for such stuff is tiny. There are relatively few of these vehicles bought by people who will use them "seriously", so any company wanting to get into that market has to do something to engender customer confidence as obviously they can't rely on reputation!

Other than a bug deflector and crossbars when the Jeep was new, I can not yet afford to purchase any aftermarket products for my Renegade. However, I applaud all companies that make an attempt to provide us owners with options. It is all a matter of supply and demand. The more products and producers available to us, will hopefully give us more affordable, quality parts to choose from. When it is all paid off next May, :pepper:

then I can consider upgrading to some better sliders. I too like the stage III's from JCR, for the style, price and IMHO it appears that they do quality work. :2cents:
