Oh, gotcha! That makes sense, I wasn't thinking from stock height

So now that I've been researching, can someone explain why two different frankenlifted KJs can look so different? I've seen some pictures of KJs they say are frankenlifted that really don't look much higher than stock, then I've seen other pictures of frankenlifted KJs that have huge flex and look like full time crawlers. That's confusing the heck out of me!

You wanted some pictures of ones lifted with stock size tires, all of these have 245-70s on them and right at the same amount of lift
So heres one's sitting at 22.50 or so with 245-70-16s on them yet

The man. The myth. The legend.

Why did they go for 245 70s and not 245 75s?

Thats the size they had on before they lifted and they all wanted to wear out the old tires before buying new.
Most aren't like some of us who gets tired of what we have so we sell them and buy something different or bigger! The Duratracs have been on my KJ longer than any other set so far.

I believe Tom is running 265/75's.When you get to that size you need to regear to 4.10's,and taking by your username your in Colorado so 4.10's is almost a must even for 245/75's when you get in the mountains.

Holy pricetag, batman. 4.10's are a must in the mountains? Well shucks. I'm thinking I'll just get the libby and save up until I can afford to do the lift, regearing and maybe some airlockers at one time instead of stretching it out... If they have to tear it open anyways I might as well have them do everything while they have it opened up. Offroading is an expensive hobby  But based on what I see you guys doing to your KJs, it's totally worth it!

If you keep the tire size to no more then a 245/70 or a load range "C" 245/75 you will be fine. It's when you get up over the 31"+ sizes is when regearing will help bring back power and mpg's.I gained 6-8mpg's when I regeared from 3.73's to 4.10's running 265/75 MT/R's.

I was the same way it was a few months after I installed the 265-75 that I went to the 4.10s, mileage at 65 before was 15-16 best now 21-21.5 easy plus it runs cooler now as well since the trans isn't working so hard, the engine is closer to running in that sweet spot etc.

I have a dumb question...do 4.10s make your rig easier to get up to 65mph or do you still have to rev it over 3,000 to get it to highway speed? Basically does it always feel like it's trying to pull up a mountain or does it feel more like a highway vehicle? :dizzy:
