Ok how is this done bein no dip stick? Can you just drain it an put the recommended amount in it and be done? Or can I get a 06 stick an do it myself? Dealer wants 240 to do
It.

I got a dipstick from an earlier model. It seems to work.

I bought what the dealer would use, a temperature measuring stick.

Part #9336

If you want a drain plug and some marginal cooling upgrades, then you should look into the aluminum trany pan.

Will give the incorrect level for a '07,you need the tool listed in dieselenthusiast post,a scanner that reads trans temps, and the chart has the temp/fill for the '07 KJ.

I measured it cold (garage temp) before the change and filled it to the same level afterward. Thermal expansion has a negligible effect across any temperature variations in my garage. A dealer/shop may not have the luxury of doing it like that, but it works.

For what it is worth, the cold reading using an 05 dipstick was spot on for my 07.

How did you know your trans had the correct level to begin with?

I didn't like not being able to check fluid levels. I bought the dipstick early on in the Jeeps life. I made the assumption, perhaps incorrectly, that the factory filled it to the correct level. The correlation between the factory fill and the level shown on the dipstick does support my assumption.

It is due for a flush and I plan to take it to the dealer. I will check it again afterward. I expect to find the same thing, but if not, I will stand corrected.
