Has anyone thought of comparing the flow rate of our injectors to that of say a cummins, powerstroke or durtynax? Idk if our injectirs are high impedence or if any ithers would match, but its worth a shot.and there has to be a piggyback out there that modifies the signal from the ecu to the boost solenoid.

Great idea. Also having them extrude honed is popular with the cummins guys.

I also know that holset turbos have a t3 flange. Anyone try using a (hx35vt) i think is what its called. Came on the cummins and has variable vanes.

Hmm haven't heard of that but worth checking into.

I think I'm trying the GTB2260 which is the latest gen and one size larger than our stock GTA2056.

The GTB series flows 30% more than GTA and have 90% less backpressure.

What do they come in? Anyone know where i can get the compressor maps for ours? And the hx35 is well known for its quick spool and efficiency.

Later model VAG cars like the Q7 3.0 TDI, Touareg 3.0 TDI, some volvo, and BMW's as well. Most come with an electric actuator that can be converted to vacuum. There is a guy in the UK that sells new ones that are already converted to vacuum.

cool ill look into it. anyone know if our injectors are high or low impedance?

The vgt turbo offered for cummins came on the 6.7L. Its a HE351ve, but it doesn't have a t3 flange. Its a weird 4 bolt flange but they make adapters to make it a t3. Its a little big for our little engines. 60mm inducer wheel vs a 47mm stocker.

60mm is kinda big, but it really depends on the a/r when it is at idle vs when at wot. because those turbos dont work like ours with variable vanes, so Ive heard, they have a different variable mechanism. Ill look it up, but what Im getting to is 60mm is large but efficient if it has a .47-.54 variable a/r. Just speaking hypothetically. If I was to go with a holset turbo, I think it would be a hx40 with a hx35 exducer. I don't have access to a dmm right now, so the next time somebody has their injectors out, would you ohm them out and lmk if they ohm around 2ohms or 15ohms, that will tell me if they are high or low impedence. I will do a little bit of nosing around to see if they are peak and holds.

I'm not sure what our impedance is, but here is a good read on solenoid style and piezo if you scroll down...

resistance: 0,3 - 2,5 ohm
supply voltage: 12 - 100 Volts
current: max. 25 A

Thank you very much yrkcrd. Looks like we have low impedence. Ill check flow rates and compare them to otger deisel stock flow rates. We might just be able to recycle a higher rate injector from another vehicle to get some added power. After tweeking the stock maps a little (via chip/piggyback)

Keith at GDE would be the person to talk to about the tuning, he seems to know more than anyone else about the CRD's.

On a side note it seems that our PCM aka the EDC16 (Electronic Diesel Control) can control the electric actuator on the latest version of the GTB Garrett turbos provided it is the PWM version and not the can-bus version found in the latest VW/ Audi's.

From what i've found out the signal to the N75 is PWM control from the EDC.

Not sure of the frequency but the electric actuator on the GTB turbos is 140 mhz

Well, "Notpicky" sold his turbo conversion to me after he sold his liberty. I'm installing it now, I took my injectors to the injection shop and had them honed out for 50hp extra. Worked out to a 25% increase. I believe it was $1,100 for testing, honing, and calibration. Im expecting 250hp, NO MORE than 300hp. Its gonna require Kieth at GDE to custom tune it to disable the vnt turbo map. Installing a boost and egt gauge to make sure heat stays in check.

I'm thinking that you may need a stiffer torque converter. :D

Lol already have it, got the euro brand new in the box, contemplating selling it for the suncoast. Also doing 3" exhaust all the way back.
