well since my Grandfather showed me that when I was 9 while I was unbolting an engine in a 54 Ford, so that would of been about 48 years ago. :lol:

I have taken careful consideration...I think I will try to fabricate something to distribute the weight of the tire more evenly or put some type of pad underneath...or both. I've got something in my head, now time to make it come to fruition. :idea:

Hopefully I'll be able to fix something up this weekend.

So I removed the tire carrier from the swing gate. And Tom's lock bolt trick to getting those torx bolts out didn't work. So I went up to Advance Auto Parts and the guys there took a look at it. A 250 pound man just put some vice grips on the first two bolts and broke them loose. Then he used the external torx socet for the third and fourth bolts. The head snapped off of the fourth one, so after fiddling around with that for 5 minutes we were finally able to break it loose.

After it was all said and done the swing gate looked like poo. :banghead:

So today I ran up to O'Reily and spend $45 on Mothers Back 2 Black, Mothers Clay Bar Kit, Mothers Carnauba Wax, 2 microfiber pads, and 2 terry cloth pads.

Used the back to black on the handle and small plastic handle on the rear window.

I used the other products on the swing gate and well...

The only reason I'm not pleased with the outcome is there is a faint line and some dents where the tire carrier used to be but...

After I get back from Big Rock this coming weekend I'll use this stuff on the entire Jeep. Hoosier Jeeper style. :wink:

I'm excited to see how it turns out.

Still working on the tire carrier for the roof. Should be done soon!

it sometimes helps if you tighten the nuts together - so that they're locked well - and use the wrench on the inside nut if you're trying to pull the studs out - that way it tightens onto the outer jam nut.

I am actually going to DTOR instead of Big Rock. There are a few people headed out there.

I did that. Still no luck!
