Saw this EBAY listing for "2005 06 JEEP LIBERTY CRD 2.8L TURBO DIESEL ENGINE MANUAL"
http://www.ebay.com/itm/380384262882?item=380384262882&pt=Motors_Manuals_Literature&cmd=ViewItem&hash=item5890ab3ae2&vxp=mtr. Seller wants almost $40 for it.
MOPAR sells the same manual for less than $10: https://www.techauthority.com/en-US/Pages/ItemDetail.aspx?itemID=1649&catID=116
MOPAR also sells " KJ VM Diesel Fuel System Operation and Diagnosis - Student Workbook (English)" for the same price. https://www.techauthority.com/en-US/Pages/ItemDetail.aspx?itemID=1648&catID=116

Anyone used these workbooks?

I have both of the training manuals. One on the engine, and the other on the fuel system. Save your money, the books are only an overview to familiarize the techs about the CRDs when they first came out. Nothing there about servicing them.

I should have added that the only things that I found handy were a couple good pictures of the engine from different views and an illustration on the oil circuit throughout the engine and turbo. Which should have been included in the FSM :banghead:

Any chance you could scan those pictures and post them? I'm particularly interested in the oil circuit one.

Yea, I'd love to see that oil circuit picture too. Oil routing in our engine is a particularly bad problem, as it can easily lead to engine death, and QUICK.

I'm pretty computer illiterate, after I scan what do I do with it to post here?

geordi, I sent the scanned image, let me know how well it turned out.

The preceding page had this text, which I forgot to scan
The oil pickup tube pulls oil from the pan into the oil pump. The oil pressure relief valve is located in the block and controls the oil pressure. From the pressure relief valve, oil flows through the oil-to-water cooler and then to filter. From the filter, oil flows the main oil gallery that feeds the crankshaft bearings. The crankshaft is cross-drilled to feed the connecting rod bearings.

Here's the link: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5447172/CRD-oil-circuit.pdf

Without reading your text, I followed the arrows and determined the same thing from the image. This is the most asinine design, sending the oil to the turbo from the main gallery and having a restrictor on the camshaft pathways? Yipes, yea - Lets starve part of the engine for oil by giving it an even tinier passage!

Its a wonder that when my turbo blew, that I didn't lose a camshaft instead of the main bearing on #1. But it's also easy to see how with the turbo leak from the main bearing, why the #1 failed first, and the #2 bearing was "in the process" right behind it. They were the first to starve for oil.

Thanks for scanning that!
