Hi, I have had my first CEL today on my KJ 2005 CRD 6 Speed Manual, it's come on and stayed on through a few shut down and restart cycles. I did the "key trick" and after a few attempts (whoever said this was a black art is totally spot on) recovered code P1236

Any ideas what this code means? I've searched tech and other sections and no mention of this one. Vehicle drives fine (no limping). I've noticed a bit more white smoke on cold start up so my prime suspect is glow plug(s) right now. Any advice before I head down to the dealers most welcome.

unfortunately p1236 isn't listed on our standard code lists

although a p1263 would be a glow plug....don't know if the last 2 digits could be reversed?

It's been posted before on the forum that when/if one pulls codes via the key trick that the last 2 digits are reversed although I cannot verify that from personal experience.

I checked again today and it is definitely P1236 showing on the dash, if the last digits are transposed that would tie back with the glow plug theory. We are having one of the warmest Novembers ever in the UK fortunately.

Note - glow plugs will come on and trip a CEL - even if the Days are 100+ and the night 80+ (been there, done that)
