Driving to work Monday morning, about 60mph on a country road in southern MI.

Took out the front passenger side corner/fender/bumper. Not sure the complete extent of the damage yet.

This sucks as I only have 6,000 miles on the "new" Liberty after my previous engine swallowed a valve.

The American Indians believe that it's a sign of good luck; because an even bigger calamity passed you by.

It's an opportune time to have the paint shop take care of all the nicks, dents and scratches, have it cleaned inside and out, buffed and detailed.

You’ll have a brand new CRD inside and out….including the engine.

I've never thought of that.... do you actually get to eat the non-mushed side of deer that ate your truck?? I would think that there would be some sort of regulation especially if said deer was out of season... Maybe you need to get the NA who is telling you the good luck/averted calamity story to process it for you under the protection of his status card....

Dunno about the laws in the OP's Michigan, but here in Virginia, you can indeed "harvest" the deer. However, whether in or out of season, you do have to report the accident if you plan to pick up the deer, as you need the police report to substantiate the fact you weren't poaching.

I nailed one of those darn things in Fl a few years ago with my Lincoln Mark VII... Did almost the same damage report, that thing cost me the fender and the entire front clip... And I didn't even GET the meat, b/c it was pitch black and I couldn't see where the stupid thing had landed. I know I broke it's neck however, if I had found it... Venison steaks.

Good luck getting your CRD back together ***again*** and if you decide to replace the air box b/c of damage... Sell me the top, hmm? I need a new top for mine, don't overtighten that clamp.

Here is a photo of the damage. Estimate is about $4k for the fender, bumper, grill, repair the hood and replace lots of broken plastic parts. Only damage under the hood was washer fluid reservoir and air box.

If you are getting a new air box have them get you a V6 one not a CRD.

Old airbox in whatever condition... I can has?

I only really need the lid, but I'd like to try something with the bottom if you don't mind sending it too. I don't care what condition its in, this is for an experiment. I'll pay shipping and such, and you can keep the MAF sensor for a spare if you want, it just unscrews from that tube. My tube is collapsed.
