Well, I joined the club. Drain plug has actually been dripping for about 1 1/2 yrs, but it always snugged down. Well , this oil change. it kept going--never tightened up.
After reading every thread on this subject, I decided on the following action:

Ordered Fumoto F-104: purchased 41/64 drill bit: purchased tap 18mmx 1.5

Some notes if you're considering doing this:
If you're laying in the driveway to do this...make sure you are able to raise up the JEEP high enough so that your drill & bit are able to clear the ground so that you can drill STRAIGHT. This is very important.(my drill & bit combo needed 18" clearance). It's just a quick pass with the drill, but it needs to be straight. Using the tap concerned me at first (I had no tap Handle). I was able to use a box wrench to turn it. It was a little difficult to start it, but once it engaged, it went smoothly.
Half turn "cut", then back off and clean the tap of shavings. Repeat, cutting farther & back off and clean again. Continue until threads are cut the entire length of the opening. I had enough oil still dripping that it lubricated the tap and held the shavings so that they stuck to the tap or dripped down. Once threads are cut, test fit the Fumoto & it should fit just fine. Before final installation of Fumoto, pour a small quantity of oil into engine to flush any stray shavings out the drain hole. I put a white clean cloth under drain hole to see if any shavings came out. None appeared. Now final installation of Fumoto & you're done.

The whole job is simple enough. You need to take your time and have the courage to make a bigger hole in your oil pan!

I also replaced the oil pressure sending unit as it had been erratic. I put it on a tee in case I want to add a gauge later.

BTW....I know I will never use the drill & tap again. If anyone wants them, I will ship anywhere in the continental US for $20. (they've only been used one time & cost me more than that).
