04 made 2 trips before they "fixed it" with a new gasket.
09 made about 3. They sealed it pretty good the last time it was in, even took off the 3rd eye brake lite, replace the gasket there and sealed the wire hole with sealant. Then, after replacing the gasket around the window then hatch, if this thing sinks nose first, the air will be trapped i the rear and it will float azz up.

Yeah, I know. Been here lurking but not posting. Been busy on a Coast Guard website I help moderate and going to school full time. Been giving the jeep a break but its not new any longer and looking to add some design adjustments. Some lift and rock rails. If it wasn't so darn expensive, lockers but also afraid it might void mylifetime powertrain warranty. In short, no better place to get updates and real world input then here at Lost. :-)

Hello all.

I just purchased a used 2008 KK with 35k on the clock. I have a leak coming from either the glass or the hatch that ends up dripping on the cargo cover when its extended. Was just looking for any input. I am going to take back to the dealer who sold it to me to see if they will do anything but it isnt a Jeep dealership.

I would post a picture but Im not sure how to do that.

It sounds like the top brake light gasket is bad. It could be that it didn't get positioned correctly after the bulb was changed. It's possible that the gasket on the gate may be bad but it isn't likely that the glass is causing water to get there. When mine leaked, the water ran down the glass and into the latch.
If you want to post pictures, photobucket works pretty good.

When mine leaked it was the hatch gasket. A tube of RTV silicone and 15 minutes to re-goop it worked like a charm. I also leak-proofed the rear glass by installing a rubber seal at the top of the glass. See below:

There are two TSBs on leaks in the KK tech section (sticky at the top). I've copied them here for you.
