Where in NC are you? There are stations around that sell anywhere from B5 to B100. Check www.biodiesel.org . There's a map of retailers you can access, lists them by state. I'd say offhand there's at least 20 stations in NC that sell bio, and distributors you could buy from and do splash blending on your own.

Two closest to me are Penn Mart in Salisbury, junction of Hwy 150 and Main Street, and Homers Truck Stop, Stameys Farm Road exit off I-40 in Statesville. Couple in Asheville, one over in Shelby, at least one in Charlotte, couple out toward the coast, and several in the Raleigh/Durham area.

Could try checking the list of distributors and producers. Might be one willing to deliver a 55 gallon drum of B100 so you could splash blend your own.

Try this link http://maps.google.com/maps?q=112+Baldwin+Rd.,+Hillsborough,+NC+27278

Carolina Biodiesel Inc, 112 Baldwin Road, Hillsborough NC. Sells B99. Town is northwest of Durham. Looks like if you're 30 miles northeast of Greensboro, it shouldn't be too far away.

If they're selling B99, you could just take 3 or 4 five gallon jugs, fill them up, and do your own splash blending. If you're just trying to splash blend to B20, 20 gallons of B99 could last you a couple months or more, depending on how much you drive.

Okay, I have one year of experience and I've kept track of every tank, over 15,000 miles my average is at 20.7. This has trended down since winter started, in the fall it was standing at around 21.6. My driving situation is a little unique, I make 2 trips to work and back each day, 5 miles each way of stop and go (8 lights). Not the best use of this particular vehicle. I get it out on the highway maybe once a week, plus a few long highway trips a year. Best single tank was 27.5, worst is 16.7. If you exclude those as abnormal, the next two were 26.7 and 17.7, respectively. Most tanks were in the 19 to 22 range. 40% of what I ran was B20, so figure about B8 overall. Despite what some have said about biodiesel being superior, I'd say that my experience is at these lower blends the overall quality, age, etc. of the fuel makes a bigger difference in how in runs than any small percentage of bio.

Oh, and I drive 70-75 on the highway. Any slower around here will get you run over.
