I changed out the t-stat yesterday (yes, on thanksgiving...a guy has to stay busy when he's off work) and I was VERY happy with the changes driving the family across town for the evening holiday rituals. The temp took about 5 minutes to reach normal operating after leaving the house and negotiating a few stoplights before the interstate. Before, it would pretty much NEVER get up to temp unless it was summer and I had the AC on and i was going slow. I experienced a 1.5 ave. mpg increase (according to EVIC) just in the 30 miles or so on the clock since the change, so I'm really looking forward to the first full tanke with B20 (usually my best MPG source).
A question for those who have done full drain/fill operations: What in the world do you use to open the bottom plastic draincock screw plug? I couldn't get anything in there that would grab it except for a pair of channellock pliers, and I know that's not the best tool to use on a plastic screw...
Dan
I used the open end of a slightly bent 14mm wrench.... take your time.
