No it was not. I am working with a local mechanic trying to diagnose and repair the issue. The last time I was in the shop he had a meter/tool that plugged into the injector. After it was hot the injector wasn't working. Something is blocking the signal for it to open. (thats my best effort to describe it , I am definitly no mechanic.) We'll see what he says next week.

Hello again, and like to thank everyone for there help. Changed my fuel filter and fuel primer pump housing this weekend, not sure if that was the problem or not. Pumped and removed all the air from the system. After I started the the motor and shut it off, pumped fuel filter housing again and it was soft again, tried bleeding air out again and found no air in the line. Is it normal for pump to soft after starting or should it hard like it is holding pressure. Old pump was same.

Until I put a lift pump in the tank mine would remain softer than it is now.

mozzio, Did your mechanic find anything yet? You noted he was looking into a leaking or faulty injector?
Keep us posted, inquiring minds want to know.
As for mine, I'm waiting on a Fuel Pressure Solenoid.

Lift pump is in and working for 1 week now. Not sure if it cured the problem yet, have not done any short runs yet just back and forth to work so motor has had time to cool down between starts. Hand primer on fuel is firm lift pump is on, but goes soft after shut down, should is not stay firm. Any suggestion? Thank you everyone for your help.

I don't have a lift pump, just the 2n gen fuel head, but my hand primer stays somewhat firm. Not hard although it gets hard if I hit it a time or 2. stoutdog has the same head, no lift pump installed, but his hand primer tends to get a bit softer than mine. Neither of us have air in the fuel head problems right now.

Based on your symptoms and assuming your hand primer get's really soft and does not harden right up after you press it a time or 2 my guess is you are getting air into the system thru the 2, I believe, quick disconnect fittings back near the tank. Remember a lift pump just adds a 2n "puller" pump into the system, not an in tank pusher pump, so it's certainly possible air is still being pulled in past the quick disconnect fittings that are really designed to prevent fuel under pressure from going out not air coming in. You can tackle getting rid of those fittings or just leave things alone if the lift pump is providing adequate pressure and no air issues at the fuel head. I'd try the latter for a while at least.

I still think you may have an air leak in your fuel system.

Here is a thought, when the old fuel filter was replaced last; did you make sure that the rubber washer/gasket came out along with the old filter?

If you have double washers under there, the fuel filter will never seal and you'll get air pockets at high speed.

Many have inadvertently done this.

The symptoms you describe sound like what happened to me. See if my previous post helps.

Hello everyone.
Well after installing fuel pump runs better I would agree. But it did not solve my no start when the engine is shut off. Hand pump was hard and could not push in. Waited about 45 minutes and it started up and ran great. I am lost as to what it is. Has anyone actually really figured out what the problem is on any of there crd's. Thanks for all the help.

next time it does not start after being warm, throw cold water on injector pump, if it starts then that means the pump is internally cracked.

Where do these fantastic confabulations originate from? The more fantastic the statement, the more believable it becomes.

This procedure can be used as a dubious diagnostic process on some engines running VP44 injection pumps to indicate a bad brain on the pump but Bosch learned their lesson on those IPs and no longer mounts delicate circuit boards on the very hot pump where the solder joints will fail with repeated heating and cooling cycles.

It does not indicate any kind of "crack" and will not indicate anything on the CRD.

papaindigo posted on here a solution that had worked for jeepdan. Replacement of the crankshaft sensor could be the solution you need. I actually had a similar problem that has since been resolved by replacing the crankshaft sensor.
