I'm just not sure how far I should fight this thing. Just to prove the dealer wrong I went and got my tires balanced last night (They said they can't look at it further till they are balanced)...they wanted to charge me $60 for a one time balance...HA. I took it and got a lifetime balance elsewhere for $50. So I called them this morning and tell them that and i don't think they know what to do.

I they thought your tires were out of balance it should have been under the warranty.

Get copies of all repair orders each time you visit the dealer. Sometimes dealers try to avoid this.

Make sure the complaint is written properly on the repair orders.

Read your states Lemon Law. http://www.in.gov/attorneygeneral/2544.htm

Did you buy or lease for personal use:

■A car or light truck?
■Within the last 18 months?
■With less than 18,000 miles?
■From an Indiana dealer?
If you answered yes to these questions, your vehicle may be covered by the Lemon Law.

What to do if You Buy a Lemon1.Report the problem within 18 months of purchase or before 18,000 miles, whichever comes first.
2.Take your vehicle to an authorized dealer for repair.
3.Allow a dealer a reasonable number of attempts to repair. A reasonable number of attempt means: your vehicle is subject to at least four repair attempts OR is out of service due to repairs for at least 30 business days and the problem still exists.
4.Request a copy of the written repair order every time you take your car to the dealer for repair or examination.
5.Read your owner’s manual or vehicle warranty.
■Is written notice to the manufacturer required? If so, you must send written notice of your problem, along with copies of all repair orders to the manufacturer at the address identified in the owner’s manual or vehicle warranty.
■Has the manufacturer adopted an informal dispute procedure that has been certified by the Attorney General? If so, you must follow the procedure before you can file a lawsuit under the Lemon Law.
■If notice is NOT required and the manufacturer does not have an informal dispute procedure, you may file a lawsuit without notifying the manufacturer of your claim.
6.The manufacturer has 30 days to accept return of your vehicle and, at your option, replace the vehicle or refund your money.
7.If the manufacturer does not resolve your claim, you must file a lawsuit within two years from the date you first reported the problem to the dealer. If you win the lawsuit, you can recover all your costs and attorney fees.

Don't mention Lemon Law when going to the dealer ship until you have met the required repair attemps in the law.

.

Tire balancing is not covered under any warranty, just like tire rotations and a oil change.

There is a good deal of leeway in the warranty regarding tire balance especially whne the vehicle is brought in for a vibration and reported early in the vehicle ownership. The dealer could have accomidated this customer easily.

Also you could try bringing it to another dealer or Two.

It seems for Lemon Law purposes you reported the issue before the 18,000 miles so that should qualify you in at least that aspect.

Insure that you get the 4 repair attemps done.

I have an 10' Lib and noticed some rumbling around at speeds between 45-50mph. I thought it had to do something with the overdrive kicking in at such a low rpm. I use to own Nissans and Nissans like to rev high unfortuantely at 80mph you sound like retarded Mosquito hence one of the minor reasons why I am happy to be done with them.

On the other hand, I was wondering if the same issue is evident on the 3.7L Commanders and Grand Cherokees? I ask this because both of the vehicles have different type of transmission verses the Liberty.

I'm a new fist time jeep owner and this is my first post in the forum. I have a new 2011 liberty renegade and was noticing this issue which after some searching on the Internet led me to this forum. I guess I'll have to check with my dealership but man do I hate starting down this path. Love the KK but this is vibration at 50 mph is really a constant annoyance.

I honestly think it's something with the Jeep drivetrain. We took ours in for warranty and they attempted to fix it. They replaced everything inside the rear axle. It's still there, just not as bad. Also while they had our Lib in the shop, our rental was a 2012 Liberty...we noticed the exact same vibration in it too. And now i've even started noticing it a little bit in my Wrangler...though it is no where close that it feels like in the Lib

Don't claim to be a ASE certified guy or anything, but my previous 2009 KK had the same trans (42RLE) and before that I owned a WJ with same trans, in the WJ it was a harsh shift/ hunting around for the right gear. Sounds like same problemo, and the dealer reflashed tcm according to TSB. I guess FIAT didn't want to put the 545RFE? not sure if that is a cousin to 42RLE behind 3.7. Maybe would help? Bottom line Tell the dealership to reflash transmission based on previous TSB for KK, "good luck, we're all counting on you."

Hey All. I have a 2012 Jeep Liberty Latitude 2 wheel drive. Mine has a similar issue. Essentially I feel a vibration that seems as if its the TC kicking in before it shifts but it won't shift until I either press on the gas and raise the RPM's or take my foot of the throttle all together. It seems to happen mostly around 45-55 mph. I notice it does this when I go from a slight decline in the road to a slight incline in the road. I can replicate it almost always. I can even keep the TC spinning by simply feathering the gas pedal which is probably not good. Its super annoying that its a brand new vehicle and does this weird thing. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

I think I'm having the same issue with mine. It's a 2010 sport with about 27000 miles on it. It's been doing this for a long time but I thought it was the tires. It feels like I have a very low, almost flat tire. When I lifted it and put larger tires on, it wasn't long and the vibration started. I used remolded tires so naturally I blamed it on those. Then I bought a set of used General AT2's and it still does it. Anyway, it's been driving me nuts for a long time. I wish I'd put it together sooner, I definatly would've lemmoned it. Has anyone tried pushing the tow/haul switch when the vibration starts? I tried putting it into 4hi for a few seconds and it seemed to help but after reading this thread, I used the haul button and it seemed to stop. I'll definatly keep trying that.

Has anyone been able to get this resolved? I spoke to one of the service advisors where I bought the jeep and after a short conversation and his trying to blame the problem on other things, he admitted that it's definatly a problem and I should get it in there before it does permanent damage. He thinks it may be related to the torque converter and it seems to be common. Since then, it's stopped doing it (figures) but I still don't know what it might be.

If yours was doing what mine was, you'd pay attention to it. It was vibrating so bad the steering wheel would move. It felt just like a flat tire. I've even gotten out to see if the tire was flat.

my old 05 liberty has this rumbling and I just changed the front and rear U joints on my rear driveshaft butthe sound is still there . It happens above 70mph and below that speed all is smooth and nice. Actually after replacing the U joints I felt that the rumbling pitch was alittle different although they still happen after the same speed. I really feel that this problem is ruining this fine vehicle which has been apleasure to drive apart from this. Considering the amount of cars in the US has no onw been able to identify what this problem is. It only happens above that speed on the gas....
