Might be best to rent a U Haul load it on a trailer and haul it home. The CRD has two things that will baffle regular techs, it is not a gasser and it has wet sleeves. Even if they never open it up and only hang on a turbo, you would have better luck in a Casino, at least if the Casino has a cheap buffet.
There are good techs out there and some work for dealers, but in my experience at being a former repair shop owner and factory tech, you will have about a 10% chance of finding a good tech at a randomly picked dealer. So far the dealer you stopped at does not sound like he has a clue.

Actually, it was the parts guy who freaked out........not the tech.

Did the parts guy have a role of TP on the side of his golf bag so he can wipe out the cup before he puts in the ball? If so he must have a cousin who is a Chicago politician :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL:

Does this then mean that the only (current) options if you need a torque converter are reman and Suncoast?

Ok, I just got off phone from ordering a rebuilt torque conv. from http://www.torqueconverter1.com/Home.html and the Part # I used was the 68037142AA, Their part # is 600H, that list it for the 545RFE.they have a few rebuilt ones on hand for $125.00 + $20.00 shipping. 1 year warranty.

I am getting the GDE ECO tune and will post my findings about the shutter I am having around 53 MPH now.

I don't believe that last post. THere is a guy down here running a Chrysler Hemi TC in his KJ CRD and he has no problems at all. In fact there are a range of aftermarket TCs that might work, just scroll down this page to the 545RFE TCs:

Look at the stall speeds on all of those they are optimized for the Hemis torque curve and i doubt the CRD's is anywhere near those stall speeds. Since the hemis RPM range is probably twice ours easily. You might could find one close to what the crd requires with some R&D but why go through all of that when the Suncoast is close to the same cost.
